After meeting Mr, Neil S*****, a contractor at a home and garden show and giving him my information for him to build me a deck, he call and subsequently came to my property to check and make recommendations on building a suitable deck. I agreed with his price and he sent me a contact which i signed on March 23 . He promised that that the work would begin on April 15th. During March 23rd and April 14th. I did not receive any follow up calls or messages from him. Moreover, I call and emailed him to confirm that he would indeed be coming on April 15 and got no replay . I Ultimately called his office was told he would call me back when he got in the office, but he instead emailed me to let me know he would call at a later time, On April 14th around 8pm his office called but no one could give me a definitive answer as to when I'd hear from him and when construction on my deck would begin. He called today, May 8th with plans to sue me because I signed a contract and I told him as far as I know he terminated the contract when neither he nor his office called me back to let me know what was the delay. I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else because I believe Mr. S***** was dishonest and furthermore, I think as a poor elderly person he treated me with disrespect.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/05/13) */ This is in response to complaint from ****************,against Exterior Experts, This is not a valid complaint and should not be reported. We have a contract with Mrs, ******,dated March 23 2022. We were to install a deck off the back of her home. We have an APPROXIAMATE starting and completion dates however these days are approxiamate, these dates are not etched in stone. There was rain the first week of May . which prevented us from doing work , number of lost days. Then in April we also lost days of work due to rain. There was and still is material issues with prior job to starting Mrs. ******s job.We were held up for close to a week waiting on materials that were suppose to be on site when we started job only to have to wait we are at the mercy of our suppliers. Any deck contractor who is legitimate is months backed up on work and longer. We expedite the jobs as soon as we can . We also rely on the jobs committed to as it keeps our crew busy and feeds their families. All we wanted to do was build a beautiful deck for Mrs, ****** and make her proud of what we do. Our customers love our deck work. We get rave reviews on our crews work. I personally called Mrs, ****** . on May 8th mothers day on a sunday to let her know she was the next job ready to go. and me and my head crew were going to do a walk thru on job and start the next day Monday May 9th, I want to point out that in no time prior to this call did Mtrs. ****** call and say why isnt my deck built I am cancelling contracty. This never took place, Mrs, ****** . wouldnt let us come out to do final walk thru with my crew chief. I had already purchased materials and wanted everything to run smooth the next day. With a completion date that says APPROXIAMATE. April 20th we were not out of scope out of time frame with our contract, The reason it says approxiamate is based on rain delays , materials available especially in this climate with pandemic and Ukraine war , this has plyed havoc on our schedule yet we still maintain. Ther contract serves to protect the customer and the contractor. If every customer just threw their hands up anytime after 3 day by law recission then no one would stay in business. I begged and pleaded with Mrs, ****** to let us install the deck the next day from our conversation on May 8th Sunday when she wouldnt allow us over and this being the first time she is cancelling contract, way out of recission. I ended up getting yelled at over the phone then hung up on. I sent numerous texts and emails again pleading with customer to follow up with the contract terms only yo be rebuffed. I have to protect our interests in business and am filing a lawsuit against Mrs, ****** for clearly breaching the contract. If we were out months on end which is normal in todays climate this is not the case we were 2 weeks behind an approxiamte date of April 20th. Mrs. ****** breached the contract and will still have someone build her deck and she ended up doing a diservice to her self and her job as we really do phenomenal work as a licensed contractor for 35 years now one of the longer standing license holders in Maryland, . I tried in vain to no avail to take care of Mrs. ******s job . AS she breached terms and wont allow us to install the deck there is no workmanship issue as there is no work. We respectfully ask that you take down complaint as it is not valid.the only reason Mrs ****** reported this to BBB was because I told her she left me no choice but to turn this over to our attorney. Sincerely, Neil owner
