I used their service for four days. I spoke to the owner, the customer care specialist, and the nurse, and explained my needs. I told them that I am a paraplegic and would need to be lifted to use the bathroom and to be put in bed. They sent caregivers that were unable to lift me. Some of the caregivers were not familiar with a lock box that had been put on my door, even though I was told they all knew how to use it. One caregiver asked me what she was doing there, because she didn't know. What was probably the most worrisome event however, was that after I was in bed, I was called and told nobody was coming until 3:30 the next afternoon. I would be spending nearly 18 hours in bed, without access to a bathroom or food. This truly didn't seem to bother them. A friend eventually came to my rescue.
I wrote an email to the owner and expressed my dissatisfaction with his office. He sent someone to my house to apologize, but could not apologize himself. In fact, he didn't even answer my email. My husband sent him an email, expressing how unhappy we were. He answered that email, and claimed that I refused to help with transfers, and that the situation was not entirely their fault.
I don't know who's fault he thinks it is, when caregivers that were assigned to me we're not able to do the job. It certainly wasn't my fault that they were going let me fend for myself for nearly 18 hours. It is not my fault that they do not understand what a paraplegic is.
I wanted to put in writing what happened to me, in hopes that no one else has to be treated this way. The owner could not apologize for the inferior care I received, for accusing me of refusing to help, or claiming that it wasn't entirely their fault.
A person counts on these kind of services to help them, and in return they get people who ***'t really care about helping them at all.
