During the last few months prior to moving out, I had a water leak problem coming into the master bedroom which caused carpet damage/water damage onto the walls underneath of it. During this time, there were 2 attempts to fix the leak prior to October 4th when I sent an email to the office about the damage still occurring with no fix. After these emails went out, I followed up on the requests I made to the emergency line to get it resolved (and it never did) which went unanswered. In my opinion due to being a tenant that was moving out soon I was not taken seriously about this problem and then had to deal with it additionally for the entire month of October after no help came to resolve this issue. I had water pouring into my room, feet away from my bed, for months and never got the help needed. I also have a video taken from October 4th showing the water coming into the room which shows carpet and wall damage. This leads into the other issue, which was the final inspection and charges included. During the inspection we asked if there were any issues regarding the wall, carpet etc and were told that everything was fine. I specifically mentioned the damage that occured from the master bedroom (everything in the paragraph above) and was told that it would be taken care of and I did not have to worry about it. We also asked about the carpet in the living room, if there was anything we needed to do to it before we moved out to prevent a charge upon move out, and again were told that everything was fine there was nothing we needed to do. Any charges for painting, carpet damage, carpet+wall damage under the master bedroom window was wrongful. The only charge that should be taken out of our security deposit is the Water/Sewer final bill of $87.88. The attempted collection of 838.74 is unjustified. It should also be noted that this was also a health hazard, as mold appeared to be forming in the bedroom under the carpet where the water was coming in.Business response
