************************* ************************ Hyattsville, Maryland ******** August 17, 2022 Better Business Bureau 1411 K St. NW 10th Floor District of Columbia 20005 Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing this letter regarding a service I received from EMJ contractors INC. I will include the contract that was provided along with the warranty that was provided to me. I used EMJ Contractor Company to repair my roof in 2020. The contract that I signed was a 5-year warranty for any leaks that would occur within that time frame. I called and text along with emailing EMJ contractors on August 8th stating that I had a leak in my roof that they repaired. Enrique came to my house to look at the leak in my roof and said he found the problem and repaired it. It rained two days later, and I was still having the same roof leak issue. I called text and emailed the company with a description and a picture of the leak issue that I was having but I did not get a response back from EMJ contractors. I paid $1900.00 for this service I contacted Enrique on August 8th 2022, and explained that the service was unsatisfactory. I gave Enrique a picture of the of the water damage on my wall from the rain and I mentioned to him that he did not repair the leak. Failure to receive appropriate response to this problem has prompted me to write directly to you. I would appreciate your assistant in resolving my complaint. I would like to receive a full refund from EMJ contractors INC. of the full cost of the service in the amount $1,900.00. Enclosed are copies of my records, including the contract that was provided to me, along with the warranty I received with the contract. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding my problem. I am rejecting this response because: I communicated to Enrique that I contacted another roofing company to fix my roof issue because he did not return several of my phone calls, text messages and email. I did not want any further water damage to occur to my house, so I paid a contractor to fix the water issue. He said that he was on vacation that what why he did not call me back. He stated that he will fix my roof problem then he wants me to remove this claim. I want a refund from for the funds that I paid EMJ contractor because they did not honor their warranty that cause water damage to my house. I include texted messages of our conversation.

We had our flat roof/deck sealed by EMJ Contractors in ~November 2020 to prevent leaks into the in-law suite, which is under the flat roof/deck. We also had the in-law suite renovated due to the previous water damage. In a little over a year, we noticed that it is leaking into the in-law suite again and the sealed flat roof has been untouched since they left (i.e. we did not put a deck back up). We have called and left voicemails 3 times plus I have submitted a request for callback on their website since February of 2022 with no response. Even though we have covered the flat roof with a tarp, it is still leaking into the newly renovated in-law suite and the damage is getting worse. I can no longer wait and have found another company to fix the flat roof, but I will also need to find another company to repair the damage in the in-law suite again.
