Business was contracted on 07/07/21 for carpet removal and grind 840 sq ft of basement concrete in my homes basement to a smooth finish and stain in the amount of $5,850.00 to be done in August. I paid the business $2,925 as a half-down deposit. The contract states the finish will be smooth. I also requested the carpet to be saved as it is brand new and my brother was going to use it as he is part owner of the home. When work began, the employees did not know that one room was included within the 840 sqft nor that the carpet was to be saved as requested. We lost over 700 sqft of brand new carpet that I wanted saved because the company did not communicate properly to its employees and cut the carpet into many pieces rendering unusable. Equipment operation damaged baseboards and doorways in a new house as well. At the end, the floor was uneven, unleveled with various layers of concrete visible rather than desired Cream Cap and uniform in appearance, and impressions of the equipment were left in the concrete. The floor was not smooth and the company was ready to finish the work by staining and sealing the floor without being even, flat, nor smooth due to the equipment impressions. The company also did not follow proper direction on the sample of the stain coloring by sealing over the sample before it dried for one hour. In the end, we had to obtain a 2nd opinion with a different company and pay an even higher price in order to fix the floor and purchase the sealer for the new company to use. We have even sent the pictures of the work to the ***************************** who confirmed that the work was not good quality. We are requesting refund here as last recourse (before small claims) as we lost money on the unusable carpet, lost time by pushing back contractors work to construct a wet bar, lost money on getting the new door frames and baseboards sanded and repainted, and lost money by paying another company over $3,000 of the WMPs price to fix the floor damage.Customer response
