I had a procedure done at Atlantic General on July 5, 2022. My insurance has paid the claim. Today I received a collection letter stating Atlantic General has turned my paid claim over to collection. To give a little background, I was going back and forth with Atlantic General for a couple of months. They state the claim was not paid and my insurance states they mailed them the check on September 6, 2022. I even had one of their representatives advised my insurance made a partial payment. The last representative I spoke with at Atlantic General told they had not received a payment from my insurance. I advised her not to call me anymore because someone at the billing department is lying. I was advised they received a payment. I am not sure if they are trying to commit insurance ***** but this is the first time I have every been told my insurance did not pay.Business response

Dispute Resolution & Trade Practices Specialist RE: Complaint Case # ******** Personal and Confidential Dear Ms. C., This letter is our written response to the concern the patient expressed to the Better Business Bureau regarding her January 20, 2017 account with Atlantic General Hospital placed on her credit report. We have found the following: The complainant did not have insurance at the time of visit. Our documentation shows that a phone conversation made to the complainant explaining that she was over scale for Medicaid and an offer to apply for our financial assistance program. The complainant mentioned she did not have a mailing address so she agreed for her to come to Atlantic General Hospital to pick up the financial assistance application. The complainant did not pick up the application After several attempts to contact the complainant without a return response, as per policy for payment, the account went to collection and ultimately on her credit report.
