Found company online to build wet bar in my basement. *** charged me $37k. Said bar will be built in 7-10 days from start of construction. I gave him $18,500. After one month, only a wall frame was built. I fired him and asked for my money back. He said 6-9 weeks from May 5th 2023, Id receive my funds in a certified check. Its July 28th 2023. No funds, no response to text messages, and no answers to my calls, nor does he call back

Our contract was signed on 10/28/2022 for our partial basement renovation that included a full bathroom, kitchenette with refrigerator, and a living space. They agreed to pull the necessary permits to get the job done. Almost 9 months later, there has been no progress at all on our project besides framing and a rough-in for the bathroom. They have not pulled any permits so far and the project is on hold with them vanishing. They do not pick up the calls, intentionally ignore our text messages and their company email is no longer valid. They have taken 60% of the payment but have not even completed 30% of the work. This is the worst company to do business with.

Tell us why here..?I have went ahead and attached the original scope of work that was sent out to ******************* on 4/29/22.  As you can see there was nothing stating I was suppose to ***** and fix/ replace any plywood on the floor. Nor does it state the following:

      1) Promising to finish the job in 3 weeks
      2) Remove wall paper or replace drywall
      3) add new air vents
      4) painting living room wall / replace light switch cover
      5) Repair holes in the basement
      6) repair floor

Still I agreed to have the stuff taken care of for her but wasn't able to get to her till 9/30/22.  I am extremely busy with work and she wanted me to do these laundry lists of items she put together.  I wanted her to be happy and agreed to do these things she wanted but was up against deadlines/ workers being out due to covid/ material shortages for delivery.

I have attached the original scope of work along with an updated add/change form that had to install the refrigerator with a bottom drawer.  However, once the double door refrigerator was delivered (not the bottom drawer one stated on the original scope of work) customer accepted it.  It was me who said no I will get you the bottom drawer refrigerator as stated.  So I added it on the add/ change form to do along with the plywood which was never on the original scope.

Overall, we were told to come back and start with the major floor fixing that she came up with (assessing and replacing the floor plywood) after the floors have been installed and we were at the finished line.  We were not paid the final amount of $4,410.00.

I have provided before/ after pictures/ video of the project.  At this point I felt it was my duty as the owner to present our side of the whole agreement.  Thank you.
