I requested the contractor to install a patio in my backyard. The contractor came by and showed samples of his work. On May 11, 2022, I placed a deposit of $2750 with him agreeing to a schedule of completion by May 31, 2022 and a total amount due of $5500. the contractor stated on several occasions that there were delays with receipt of the patio materials however he would meet a revised completion schedule of July 10. due to timing issues and my lack of confidence in the contractor, I canceled my request for services on July 5, and requested a refund of my deposit.Initial Complaint

I met the company's owner, James L*********, in my neighborhood as he was working on a project in June 2021. Shortly thereafter, on July 2, 2021, I contracted with James to have a number of landscaping projects completed in my yard. The work James was supposed to complete included, but was not limited to, landscape lighting and installation of a patio and firepit. Nine months later the project, which should have taken no more than 1 week, is still not completed. After dozens of calls and messages to James L*******, I have been met with consistent excuses and lies regarding the completion of the project at my home, namely the firepit installation. Further, there were constant issues during the course of the entire project. For example, the fire pit was never installed, there was live electrical wire left exposed in the yard, which was quite dangerous considering he knew I had 2 and 4 year old children at the home. Also, James consistently sent workers to the house with no instructions on what they were supposed to complete and no materials to perform work. Lastly, he left a considerable amount of trash (e.g. empty bucks, plastic bags, stone, bricks, containers and debris) in the back yard next to the unfinished work. On numerous occasions, I called and texted James and he stated he would "be there tomorrow" to finish the work. 9 months later, I am still waiting. He often was non responsive or would have an excuse. I also recently found out that the business is no longer valid according to the State of Maryland government. Working with Aria was not only a very disappointing experience but also a costly one as I'll end up spending additional money to finish the project that Aria breached their contract for. Per my experience, and the experience of others that I know have used Aria, I would not recommend James L**** or Aria Landscaping to do any contracting work. On April 29, 2021, a written contract was signed to refurbish my deck. I wrote a check for $3,200 as down payment. The contractor kept pushing the project back for a number of reasons. After numerous conversations and plenty of back-and-forth, I asked for a refund. As of date of this filing, my deck has still not been completed.
