My wife and I sold a co-op unit in DC last year. E J Flynn handled the closing. Flynn held $400 in escrow, pending return of the "Ownership Documents" from the mortgage company, **** Mortgage. I visited Flynn in January to ask about the escrow. They advised they were still waiting on the ownership documents. I contacted **** and ****** who administered the loan and asked for the ownership documents. Both denied having any such documents. I do not know what really happened. When I visited Flynn, it appeared they were still holding the $400. If they needed this money to procure new ownership documents, it seems odd that they had not used the money so long after closing. If they did use this money they should be able to produce receipts to verify the expenditure. If the expense was less than $400, I should get a refund for the difference.Business response

Dear Team,
I received the complaint by US mail.
I am providing you with proof that both ***** ******* *** and ***** *** were well information. Both sellers initial, signed and received copies of the attached documents.
The documents advised that if their Lender, ******** **, did not return their original Proprietary/Ownership Documents (collateral) then the $400 plus the affidavit of loss documents would be used to replace the lost documents by lender.
We have proof that ******** ** acknowledged receipt of the documents back in 2016. As of December 30, 2021 more than 210 days since settlement, ******** had not returned these documents so the $400.00 and affidavit of loss was processed by ***** ***, Transfer Agent for ******* ****** ****** *** (“Cooperative”) for the lost documents by ******** **.
If you need any more proof or documentation, I will be happy to provide to you.
