On Oct 18, 2022, I dropped off my car to Meineke car care center to ask them check what is the problem of my car as the check engine light was on. They asked me to leave the car there and they will check on it and let me know what the problem is later that day or next day. Then after I have never heard back from them as they promised, I called back on Oct 19 to check the status, they said that they were in the process and still trying to figure out the problem. On Oct 20, 2022, they told me that the booster on the engine was bad and they need to call a few dealers to ask for availability and expenses, and they will call me when they get the information. Then what happened is without telling me the estimate of the service and asking me for my authorization either verbally or in a written paper (they didn't give me any receipt or ask me to sign any paper), on Oct 22, 2022 morning, I received a call from them saying that they already ordered the part called intake manifold (which is not the same part name they told me the other day) from a dealer and already installed the new part into my car and asked me to pay for almost 3000 dollars. Now they are holding my car and I cannot get my car back unless I pay the amount they asked for. And they insisted that they think they obtained a verbal consent from me because I called them several times. During our calls (they should have the recordings), they have never asked me for a permission and I have never agreed to let them repair my car. They didn't even inform me the estimate. I am totally scammed by them. At the same time, I have found on the ****** review that there are some other customers also reporting similar scam cases against them recently. Their behavior of touching my property without my permission and scamming me is extremely unacceptable. I do not want to pay the service I didn't ask for. I just want my car back.
