On February 16, 2022, I purchased items Laurie ***** of The Painted Trove posted to Facebook Marketplace as "Pair of Night Stands or End tables". As she instructed, I picked them up from This & That Treasures and paid "'Nelson' the shop owner" a negotiated price of $237.00 cash for the pair. The pieces remained in my car until February 24 when I reluctantly sent a Facebook DM noting that both nightstands "wobbled" (see attached PDF of the EM chain). I also sent a video that clearly showed the defect, which Ms. Guild chose to ignore. After I insisted that she reply, Ms. Guild not only denied this visually documented defect, she also accused me of lying, and more. Finally, I demanded a refund of the $237.00, for which I would return the items to her. Whereas a simple apology and perhaps an offer to a refund a small percentage of the price paid would have settled the matter, my demand was answered with obfuscation, belligerence, and unnecessary defamation and insults. The "Pair of Night Stands or End tables" are in plastic and moving mats in my storage unit in the exact condition I received them. In a final DM sent at 3:37 PM on May 18, 2022, I again offered to return these pieces to This & That Treasures on a mutually agreed upon date, for which I demanded a full refund of $237.00, and after which I would consider the matter closed and take no further action. Ms. Guild read my Facebook DM at 9:31 pm on May 18 and has, again, chose to reply in any manner. In that final DM I noted that I intended to file complaints on both The Painted Trove and This & That Treasures with the Better Business Bureau, and to I hereby ask that the Better Business Bureau help secure that full refund. If the Better Business Bureau cannot do so, I will seek restitution in the District Court of Maryland small claims division.
