We were living overseas and while there, we purchased a home. Before purchasing, we paid for extra home inspections, including a sewer scope to be sure everything was working smoothly. While the initial report (taken on January 11th, 2022) did acknowledge a blockage and a belly in our sewer line, the inspector said that were was no evidence of interruption to flow and it could be reviewed periodically. However, within 24 hours of our family of four living full time n the house (April 10-11), we were unable to flush any toilets as the waste was backing up through the basement toilet and overflowing onto our basement. I had noticed on the 10th the toilet was clogged, but I assumed it was just a problem with the toilet and not anything else. On the 11th, as the waste was pouring onto our bathroom floor, we called a plumber to come out and take a look. He immediately suspected a main line clog in our sewer, so we went ahead and showed him the report. He was astounded just by looking at the pictures (Before even reading the details of the defects) that the inspector allowed the sewer line to be used as is and not replaced before someone could live in the house and use the water. He did his best to snake out the clog, but all he could get was tree roots. He called in his camera inspector to do another inspection who basically found a tree growing out of the pipe. Full removal and replacement of the pipe was needed, and we were forced to move out of our house that we had just moved into until the problem was fixed as we couldn't use the water. Today, April 13th, the pipe was replaced, and you can see the size of the tree that was found in the pipe. There was no way the inspector couldn't have seen that.
