Date of Transaction: 4/14/22 Disputed Amount: $240.00 I had dental surgery on 5/25/22. I paid $289.35 at which time my ending balance was 0. The doctor's office apparently did not receive enough from my insurance, because on 11/28/22 - SIX MONTHS post surgery - I received a bill that had an added feel of $240.00. It is extremely inappropriate and highly suspect to have a zero balance and receive a revised bill six months later.Business response

The remaining balance is for an x ray that was taken on the day of the consult. Upon noting that the insurance company did not consider it for payment it was RESUBMITTED on behalf of the patient in order to try to get it paid for as a courtesy to the patient. The insurance company ultimately did not cover it anyway making it the patient's responsibility. I am hopeful the patient is not saying she didn't have the x ray taken. Given that she certainly did have it taken and given that we tried to get her insurance company to pay for it which they did not, we are also hopeful she will pay her bill.
Thanks for the opportunity to explain why this outstanding bill is the patient's responsibility.

I am rejecting this response because:It is inconsiderate and unprofessional of a medical practice to send a zero balance statement and follow it up months later with additional charges. I am sure this method works quite well to bring in additional funds from patients who do not question (or simply cannot remember) services that took place months ago. It is also inconsiderate for this business to take 3 months to respond to a complaint. I will be contacting the state Attorney General to investigate this practice and the decision of the business.
