Mario M*******, the owner of Molinas Contractor LLC, contracted to paint the entire interior of our home, excluding the basement. This included repairing walls and ceilings, caulking interior windows, and installing a backsplash in the kitchen. The initial quote was $15,900, then he charged an additional $600 because he said he had not included our office although we walked thru each room and he took notes, then he charged another $1,100 because he said our paint selection was more expensive than he budgeted - this was after painting had started. I selected a *************************** paint, which he suggested, because ******************************* did not have any paint in stock. Both he and I checked a total of at least 5-6 locations. The final cost for this job was $17,600, which I paid. Work started the weekend of May 15, 2021 and continued for two more weekends, with the majority of work completed by Monday, May 31, 2021. He came back several times to finish punch list items between June and October but he did not correct the largest issue. Several seams in the ceiling throughout the house were cracking or opening up... in the hallway, living room, dining room and bedrooms. His initial response was my electrician pushed too hard on the ceiling when installing a light fixture in the hallway. Then he said we had some strong winds that possibly shook the house, etc. Then he admitted he did not know what caused it. He offered to come back if I paid the labor - another $1,100. I refused. I asked another contractor what might have caused it - he said faulty technique or faulty materials. I am filing this complaint because Molinas Contractors did not stand behind their work. After paying $17,600 for a paint job, I expect the work to be intact for longer that a couple months.
