I was referred to ****** at New Century Tax. I had every intention on letting him prepare my taxes until he became frustrated with my questions. I told him I'm the beginning of our meeting that I didn't know anything about this and that's why I was hoping he could help. He has signs posted about not giving estimates and he told me the same. I had no problem with this. He began going over the price after he asked me a few questions to get my return started. When I asked about all the fees he showed me a print out. The print out showed line after line of "processing fees" no other label. My price was set at over $600. I told him I didn't understand and the breakdown didn't help as far as explaining why it was so much. He then said I could pay $350 today and don't have to worry about everything else. I was still confused and at this point he became rude and nasty. I had to ask him to talk to me respectfully because I am trying to understand. He eventually called ****** in who then spoke to him about his patience earlier that day as well as his temperament. She answered the questions I had and I told her I never came in to get an estimate and run, I was referred here but dealing with him was unprofessional and rude. He made a comment about me only understanding because a woman said it and a few other sexist remarks. (One of my questions was about- When I reviewed the forms I saw that he created another checking and routing number AFTER I had given him mine) . When I left I was told I could bring back $350 to process my work. I thought about it and returned a week later to get my receipts and 1099. At this point he did not want to return my paperwork unless I gave him $220 on the spot. I called the non emergency police and they told me where to file a complaint. I explained prior to the call that I did not want to do business with him and now he is holding my documents for $220. I never signed anything that said I would work with him and I told him the reasons why. (Sum)

To: Better Business Bureau <[email protected]>

Good afternoon, Please ask your  client **** ****** to pay what she owed to New Century Tax and Accounting Service
we provided her an excellent service and she refused to pay her total charge of $375.00
she has called Police to our office and the Officers asked her to honor her obligation but she refused.
We have been in business and same location since 1991 and by reporting BBB, we confident that is less concern and she to pay her bill.

      Thank you

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I was told over $600, then $300+ and after the police $200 for my documents. They may have been in business but the reviews are not accurate. I posted a review on ****** and it was deleted. I also spoke with other people and it seems as if they are used to charging whatever they want and using strong arm business practices to make people pay. They can refuse service and so can I. ****** was nasty and disrespectful. Not only was he unprofessional but he had another checking and routing number attached to my paperwork which was one of my main concerns. I would never recommend and ****** shouldn't allow them to delete real reviews!

      Regards,

      ****** ****
