      I contacted Bartz Landscaping to inquire about building a pool in our backyard. After speaking to Sean on the phone, we set up a time for them to come out and survey our yard and take measurements. After speaking to them, I paid them $2,000 for design and quote on pool design. A few weeks later we received a design and sent it back for modifications, received a new one that we agreed upon and it was to be sent to Seam for a quote to build. I never heard from them. I emailed and he said he was waiting for plumber and electrician and said he would get in touch the following week. I didn't hear from him, so I emailed him again asking if he had a quote. He said he was out of town and would be in touch the following weekend week. I didn't hear from him, so I emailed requesting the return of my $2,000. He emailed and apologized and said don't worry, we are going to make this work and he was going to email the following week. Again, I heard nothing and sent another email asking for a refund and have not heard from them at all. I am out $2,000 for an incomplete job.

      We contacted Bartz for a patio/pergola installation as well as a new basement entry. They came out to do measurements and discuss the project. Later, via phone we discussed the project further. They estimated that "to complete the project, the price would range from $40,000 - $60,000 dependent upon product selection. More than 50% of that pricing is the cost of the basement entry." Sean invited us to their office to see the product options before moving forward. While meeting at their office, Sean said that to get a formal estimate and 3D rendering we needed to pay $1,000 deposit applicable to final cost. He said, "if you are not happy with our design, you can change it as many times as you need until we design what you want." We felt good about the products and selected what we wanted (based on assumption top product would be top estimated price. We also selected to remove the entry component to bring budget to $20-30K. They finally sent us a rendering two weeks later, which was beautiful. However, the cost far exceeded the original estimate (about the total cost initially quoted, but without the entry), and several aspects of this mockup were not included and would add > $13K. By phone I expressed concern for a bait and switch tactic and displeasure, Sean denied He called me nearly daily attempting to get us to commit to the project. Finally, we discussed my pricing concern again, and he said that he could re-design it is using "lesser quality" materials to try to get the price to the $20-$30k we were expecting. I said I would like to see what those looked like and agreed. He used a bait and switch tactic, took our $1,000 deposit, delivered a ridiculous estimate, and has now not responded to my attempts to contact him. I expect any company serving a small community to stand behind their word (pricing, number of renders etc), or refund the $ if they are unable to do so. At this point, I fear moving forward and demand refund of money taken fraudulently.

Please find below Sean ***** response: Hey Sarah Thank you for your patience. We had the fair event for a week, I went away for a week, then most of the company was sick on/off for 2 weeks too. So the last 2 months have been different to say the least. I am sorry you feel the way you do. We provide the option for our customers to put a budget on the design agreement and you chose not to. Also the deposit for the design was completely optional and not required. I asked you guys if you'd be interested in taking the next step and doing the design and you & Kevin said yes. Doing the design is highly recommended because it ends up being free with your project and it makes sure that the big investment is planned perfectly. We are happy to work within your budget and find the perfect plan for your needs and comfort level. Please note, proposal is for the attached design with the exceptions of: * No landscaping, water feature, or lighting is priced in * River rock between house and patio is included * Patio as shown included * No sitting/retaining walls included I believe we are proposing projects and solutions within the budget you have expressed after we started the design thus I don't understand how this feel likes a bait/switch. I am sorry we are falling short of your expectations, we will do everything we can to get the ball rolling and back on track for you.       On Monday, May 9, 2022 I signed a contract with From ***** Landscaping LLC to provide me a landscape design drawing. It is almost 20 days and I haven't received the design as promised. At this point I'm NO longer interested in their service. I just want my money back.
