I hired MRW Lawns to treat my lawn for a year. Four treatments one per each change of season. I called more than once about my lawn having weeds and twice, they came out to view my lawn. During this year MRW lawns only notify me once of a scheduled service date. The winter treatment they never applied. I called; they still would not give me the last treatment. My lawn looked worst then before I hired them. That being said I refused to hire them for an additional year. I no longer wanted them to treat my lawn. Being they never treated my lawn for the winter and had three months to do so. I want a refund because they never gave me the service I paid for, and it was no fault of mine. They broke the contract by not giving me what I had paid MRW Lawns to do!!! Of course, they refused to refund me for service they failed to provide... They offered to give spring treatment, but they have already proved to me what they had to offer by the first three treatments. Whatever they are treating my lawn with does not work... Now that they are NOT treating my lawn it looks so much better... No, I don't want them treating my lawn with anything. That's why I want a refund!!!!

The request for refund of $59 has been sent to the accounts payable department. The customer should receive his refund within 10 days.

I have the contracts, phone, and service records to back up everything I have said here. Your credit balance on your account is $59. It will be here when you decide what you want to do with it.

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I have shown your theory of $59.00 per seven applications does not equal to what my receipt indicates. You suggest one of the applications was a soil sample which your company charged $59.00. I enclosed with this reply another receipt I never paid $59.00. The only way your company could make a profit as you stated would not to apply anything on your customers lawns or visit each customer four times and not seven. Surely it doesn't take a business degree to figure that out. One thing I've learned my twenty years in the military is never give up. I will keep trying until I receive my refund in full. Just in case that 4 divided into my total paid which equates to just over $100.00. Each time being more and more public.

Let's inform the public on one of your company's tricks.. Each receipt your company issued does not give a break down of what was purchased. You show how much was received but never what for. Time to educate the public !!!

      Regards,

On 8/29/21 my lawn was destroyed by Army Worms. I had paid MRW Lawn Care approximately $2,000 over the year to plant & treat the lawn w/ fertilizers and pesticides, etc. MRW refused to take responsibility for the destruction of my lawn, claiming it was due to my lawn being more sun stressed and newer than other lawns in the neighborhood (serviced by non-MRW lawn care companies) which were not harmed by the Army Worms despite having the same type of cool grass as in my yard. Other neighbors who use MRW had similar problems as mine but less severe. I paid MRW to take on the responsibility for treating my lawn with products that will stand up to insects of all types that MRW, as the hired professionals, are supposed to know about. Being experts on preventative maintenance is a major part of why I hired them. Otherwise, I could just buy some box store products and apply those myself. I want MRW to reseed entirely at their expense. MRW quoted $449 for this, supposedly a 20% discount.

Armyworms are a southern pest that usually migrate north toward the end of September. Usually at that time, they do not have enough time to complete their life cycle to damage cool season lawns. This year, brought up with the winds of southern storms, the adults were brought in 8 weeks early. with the warm weather, they were able to thrive and cause an incredible amount of damage to lawns that were full sun and/or less than three years old. We are not the only lawn care company having this problem as this is a problem across the region and it caught a lot of people off guard including Cooperative Extension in Md, Va, NC and many other states across the mid west and mid Atlantic. Calvert County and Saint Mary's County was particularly hard hit. The silver lining is that the worms do not eat the growing points of the plants and in my investigations in the area, the lawns severely damaged by this pest are recovering as long as the customer is watering regularly. Given time, *** *****s lawn will recover like the others. but it may require seeding in areas.

It needs to be stated that this pest issue has not been a problem until now, and we are working on solutions to offer customers in the future. We do not state any form of guarantee, simply because the lawn is a living thing that is always susceptible to environmental challenges. We have a very good track record with customers that are willing to work with us. A legacy of service that has lasted 32 years.

During our initial meeting with our customers, it is stated that the lawn will take 2-4 years to become fully established and healthy enough to withstand the tough environmental conditions prevalent in our area in the summer. The customer therefore should expect to have to re-seed in the fall and aerate at least the first few years of service in a row. It is my understanding that this conversation happened with *** ***** at the initiation of our contract with them. I would like to encourage *** ***** to continue to work with us as we started working with his lawn in 2020. At this point the customer wants to cancel our service. There is the possibility that another generation of army worms will happen and we are making plans to deal with that out break for our customers. If *** ***** would like to consider changing his viewpoint on this issue, we certainly would like to help him. Please contact ***** at our office.
