      COMPLAINT: I am disputing John Krause’s “Design Contract”; it is a Budget Design Estimate Proposal. John Krause admitted it is an Estimate. He is also in breach of this proposal by modifying the approximate estimate of the garage build from a 20’x20’ for $48K to a 24’x24’ garage build for $72K. This modification was not within my budget and did not fulfill my expectations nor what I wanted designed for the garage. Therefore, the prices, specifications, and conditions are unsatisfactory, and are unacceptable. Also, wanted to address John Krause's unprofessional behavior: When my wife and I scheduled a meeting with John Krause on July 10, 2023 at 1430 hours. We tried to come to a resolution by asking him for our deposit back of $10K and then paying him for the cost of the Budget Design Estimate Proposal. John Krause’s reaction to this resolution was shocking. He quickly escalated to screaming and yelling at us. His behavior at this meeting on was very unprofessional, disrespectful, rude, and accusatory toward my wife and I. John Krause’s behavior that he displayed toward my wife and I during that meeting was horrifying. His erratic behavior was very fearful and stressful. We were verbally attacked, bullied, intimidated, and threatened. My wife and I are so mentally stressed from how John Krause treated us; we feel unsafe because he knows where we live and he showed up at my house unannounced when no one was home left his card in my door and did not notify me or my wife to ask permission if he could stop by nor did he say anything about that to us after he did it. That is not normal behavior from a professional contractor. Last day of communication from John Krause was on 7/10/23. No further communication from him or his office since. Due to John Krause’s uncompromising and erratic behavior toward us; I want my total deposit of $10,000 returned.

      Krause Construction is sorry that the customer had a bad experience with Krause Construction after the customer decided not to move forward with the garage build and we appreciate the customer’s acknowledgement that Krause Construction expended costs prior to the customer’s decision to not move forward.  We understand their decision when the customer’s original request for the garage was 20 x 20 and the costs increased when their request to increase the size of the garage build to 24 X 24.  This obviously changed the scope of work, the design, and the cost for material and labor.  Krause Construction agreed to return a portion of the deposit less the expenses and costs incurred for the design drawings, etc. if the customer decided not to move forward.    On July 10th the office manager indicated to the customer that they needed time to calculate a breakdown of the costs incurred to deduct the amount from the deposit, however, the customer had filed a complaint within 8 days before Krause Construction provided the breakdown of the costs.  Krause Construction is continuing to try and resolve this matter with the customer, which includes the partial return of the deposit as agreed.  Krause Construction values each customer, and we again apologize for any inconvenience this issue caused.

      We have filed a MHIC complaint with the Maryland State Home Improvement Commission. They have ordered John Krause Construction Inc. to respond by 8/24/23. We have received attorney consultation on this matter. John Krause Construction Inc. has not personally apologized nor refunded the $10,000 deposit to resolve this matter. This is outrageous the way they treated us. This is unacceptable behavior toward customers and the way to operate a business.

      I had an appoint for John Krause Construction to arrive at my home on 11/7/21 at 1100 hours to give me an estimate for some work in my home. John Krause arrived at my home 25 minutes late for the scheduled 11 am appointment. Thats not too big of a deal as things happen and I understand. He met me at the door and I asked him if he would like a pair of boot covers or would he rather take his shoes off. He replied, "You want me to take my shoes off to walk around your house?" I replied, "Yes, we do not wear shoes inside of the home."  John replied, "How are we supposed to do work in your home ?" At this point I just see red flags and replied , "You put drop clothes down. Never mind, I am not interested you can leave." He then left ( Keep in mind this is the very first time I am meeting this person )His attitude and lack of professionalism from the onset was surprising. I take care of my contractors and they take care of me. I can only imagine what would take place if I overlooked this and allowed such a company to work here. Whats even more shocking is he is the OWNER. If that is how the owner behaves what quality training is provided to his team? I immediately called his office and spoke to the secretary and she apologized for the incident but what can you do you when your reporting the owner ? Not too much What can be done about this. I am a man and he acted this way. How does he treat female customers who may not be comfortable speaking up or more passive men? How do you report the owner ? Its disappointing waiting for this appointment and then dealing with companies ran by people with such low quality for service and bad attitudes.

      As we stated previously in your last review, we apologize for your unpleasant experience.  Again, the course of events was different that what you had described. When I arrived at your location there was already a vulgar sign placed on the front door.  I immediately felt unwelcomed by this sign.  I was not even greeted with a "hello" but with the comment to remove my shoes or put on booties.  I simply asked you how was I to perform work in your home and you became very upset, stated never mind and shut the door.  Then you proceeded to contact my office and use profane and abusive language to the Secretary to answered the phone.

      I again wish you luck on your future projects.
