Because we were guaranteed that we would never have to clean our gutters again because Gutter Helmet would come out up to four times a year to clean these gutters, we signed a contract with them on 7/14/17 and paid a total of $6,323.44 to them. They did clean the gutters, as promised, for a few years and then decided to start charging a fee of $50. Now I was told that they would start charging a "dispatch" fee of either $150 or $200 to send someone out to inspect our gutters and, if it is covered by warranty, there will not be an additional charge to fix it. Our gutters are so clogged right now that they are overflowing each time it rains. I did try numerous times to upload our contract with Gutter Helmet (a PDF file) below but kept getting an error.

the contract with this customer does not state we will clean their system free for life. attached is a copy of the contract that states as a term of installation of the new gutter helmet that we will clean out the gutters before we install the new gutter helmet system. the contract further states that the warranty is a manufactures warranty. we as a dealer charge a warranty assessment fee to determine if the customers issue is a warranty related service or not. once we assess the issue if the issue is warranty related any and all warranty related work will be preformed at no cost to the customer. Any noon warranty related work that the customer requests we will give the customer a quote for the non-warranty related work. Attached is a copy of the manufactures warranty.

We were told by the Gutter Helmet salesman, who came out and measured our house and shop/garage for gutters and who was trying to convince us to spend all that money on his gutters, that we would never have to clean our gutters again with this system and that we would get free cleanings each year.  When I called to schedule our first cleaning, the gal who answered the phone said we were entitled to four free cleanings a year.  I told her I thought three times a year would be ample so she scheduled cleanings for another year.  When the date for our next cleaning was approaching, we would get a call from Gutter Helmet telling us when they were coming out to clean and that is how it worked for years.

As I said in my original complaint, if they are not going to provide the free cleanings as promised by a couple of Gutter Helmet employees (the salesperson and the gal in the office) then we would prefer that the gutter protection be removed and we be issued a full refund of the amount we paid.  We would not have purchased this gutter protection initially without the promise of free cleanings.

No where in the contract that has been uploaded does it state that we will clean the customers gutters 4 times a year. The Warranty that the customer is referring to is the manufactures warranty. The contract clearly calls out the manufactures warranty. A copy of the manufactures warranty has been uploaded as well. To be clear we are not the manufacture. We are the manufactures dealer in this area and we charge a warranty assessment fee to send out a crew to determine if the customers issue is warranty related or not. if the issue is warranty related we will service the customers system with out any other charges. if the customers issue is not warranty related we will notify the customer of any and all additional charges that apply.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because we were told by two different employees at Gutter Helmet that we were entitled free gutter cleanings per year.  They provided that service for years.  That is the only reason we bought the gutter system from them.  You are saying we need to pay in advance the $150 or $200 (this amount changes every time we speak) to have your person come out and determine why our gutters are totally clogged, filthy dirty and leaking?  The Gutter Helmet system has never performed the way it is advertised even with multiple cleanings per year.  Reading online reviews it appears that there are many unhappy customers who bought the same system.

You are pointing fingers and blaming Gutter Helmet for the problems we are having.  I tried contacting them in the Seattle office before I filed this complaint and my call went to Maryland.  I tried emailing them about a cleaning and had to deal with an employee in Maryland.  I cannot get in touch with Mark Rodgers either by phone or email so I assume he is no longer the manager at the Seattle branch.  Please tell me how to contact Gutter Helmet.

Again, all we want is to have our gutters cleaned at no cost annually or remove the gutter protection and issue us a full refund, which would be our preference.

      Sincerely,

We had Gutter Helmet installed on our gutters several years ago. The warranty stated that if the gutters clog Gutter Helmet will fix the issue at no charge. Gutter Helmet has cleaned our gutters twice because of clogs. Recently we had another clog and the local Gutter Helmet representative refused to clean our gutters unless we paid $150 up front. This is contrary to the written warranty that states there is no charge for cleaning clogs. I have contacted Gutter Helmet several times regarding the $150 charge and have received no response.

The Gutter helmet warranty is a manufactures warranty. Attached is a copy of the warranty. As the dealer of gutter helmet we charge a warranty assessment fee to send a crew to take a look at the customers issue. if the customers issue are related to the gutter helmet warranty then we will preform the warranty related work with out any additional fees.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The Gutter Helmet warranty is quite clear that the installed gutters are guaranteed to flow properly.  If the gutter clogs (which ours have) they will be cleaned without cost to us.  This has happened twice in the past and both times the gutters were cleaned for free.

I don't understand why they can now charge a fee for a free service that was included in my original purchase.  I believe Gutter Helmet is obligated to send someone to correct the problem and do so at no charge to me.

Here is the abbreviated language from Gutter Helmet's website:  "The Best Warranty In The Gutter Guard System Industry.
No one matches our LIFETIME PERFORMANCE WARRANTY. Gutter Helmet will never chip, crack, or fade. Your gutters are guaranteed to allow the free flow of water without clogging, through every season. Our gutter leaf guard system will NOT void your roof warranty, and our warranty easily transfers to the next homeowner.
Others guarantee your gutters won’t have problems. But with other products, issues arise with the filters. Only Gutter Helmet carries a performance-based warranty because our product is time-tested to last a lifetime. So, your home is protected and so are you."

I expect this matter to be resolved by gutter maintenance without charge.

      Sincerely,

The rejection of the response does not negate the fact that this is a manufactures warranty. We are not the manufacture and have the right to charge an assessment fee to determine if in fact the issue is a warranty related claim.

We sent out emails December of2024 notifying customers of the warranty assessment fee to all customers in the Seattle, Wa and Portland Or markets. The customer was also notified when he call our office to set up service. We will waive the fee one time for this customer and open a service.

I am rejecting this response because:

I appreciate that the business has agreed to provide the services provided for in my contract.  However, I never received any notification that the business intended to unilaterally amended my contract.  As an attorney, I can assure you that a party to a contract cannot change the terms of a contract without the consent of the other party unless that right is specifically provided for in the original contract.  The contract I signed specifically provides that I would receive services to unclog gutters at no cost to me.  It also provides that I can transfer this obligation to the purchaser should we sell our home.  I expect the business to honor this contractual obligation.

In addition, Gutter Helmet's website clearly states that any purchaser of Gutter Helmet gutter systems is entitled to this free benefit.

I purchased the Gutter Helmet product through a ****** discount and had detailed discussions before installation regarding my concern about potential clogs, as I live in a wooded area. I was assured that the product came with a lifetime guarantee, including free gutter cleaning as often as necessary. A few months after installation, the company proactively conducted a system check and cleaned the clogged gutters at no charge. However, later that year, when I contacted them due to recurring clogs, I was informed there would be a $150 fee just to schedule a technician, plus additional charges for the cleaning itself. They also required me to provide photos of the clog. I referenced my contract, which explicitly stated that cleanings would be free for the product's lifetime. The company responded that their policy had changed as of December 1st. I requested to speak with a manager and was promised a callback within 72 hours. Despite following up eight times since then, I have yet to receive any response from a manager.

The customer warranty is a manufacture's warranty. The warranty states the system will keep the gutters free flowing. The Manufacture's warranty does not include free cleanings of the system. We as a dealer of the gutter helmet system charge a warranty assessment fee it review the customers issue. if the issue is warranty related the warranty service is completed with no additional charge.

I am rejecting this response because:

The warranty assessment fee was implemented after my purchase and is not mentioned in my contract. As such, I should not be subject to this fee. My gutters are clogged, which qualifies as a valid warranty claim. I have submitted supporting photographs and kindly request that the warranty work be completed as outlined in the agreement.
Furthermore, had I been informed that I would be required to pay a fee to validate my warranty each time the product failed, I would never have proceeded with the purchase.

On Oct. 15, 2024 I signed a contract with Lednor Home Solutions to remove and replace my existing Gutter Helmet. Contract value was $ 4396.00, Work was to be completed in 30-45 days. First attempt, workers removed a 10 ft. section of Gutter Helmet and then aborted due to damage to the existing shingles. I was advised to get roofers out to remove Gutter Helmet. Before this could be done, I was advised by Lednor that they could remove the panels once the weather cooled. Team tried again in December and said they could not remove the existing Gutter Helmet even in the cool temps and I need to get the roofers out to do that for them. Roofers eventually came out and quoted me additional cost of $600.00 to remove the Gutter Helmet. At this point, the additional roofers charge and the concern of damaging the roof and the lapse of 90 days instead of the contract 30-45 days for completion, I contacted Lednor Homes for my deposit of $1400.00 to be refunded as they had no ability to complete the contract. Since giving them $1400.00, back in October, they have damaged my roof where they removed a section of the Gutter Helmet. On Jan. 10, 2025 after being slow to respond to my complaints, they offered me $600 refund. I would like my full refund of $1400.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/14/2025

The customers roofer sealed the roofing to the gutter helmet. We could not just remove the the gutter helmet with out damaging the roof. Since could not just remove it we would have to cut the gutter helmet off to install the new gutter helmet. We have spoken to this customer about this and the customer is refusing to allow us to complete the contract.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 01/14/2025

If cutting out the existing panels was a safe and viable option, why was this only offered to me after I requested a refund? Why couldn’t the sales rep who sold me this $4396. Contract not assess the way the shingles overlapped the gutter helmet and disclose the challenges of removing their product? I am not breaking the contract by refusing this offer, the contract was broken by Gutter Helmet after the 45 days passed and they were unable to complete the job. I no longer trust this company or their ability to deliver the product.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/15/2025

It was not determined till the time of installation that we were not able to remove the gutter helmet due to the fact that they were sealed to the shingles. We requested for you to contact your roofer and you did so and your roofer wanted to charge your for doing that and you weren't willing to pay the roof to do that. The roofer that installed your roof caused this issue with your gutter helmet system. Not allowing us to complete the contract and requesting to cancel the contract after the recession period after the materials for your project were already purchased is not an option

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Failing to understand the scope of the project at the time the contract was presented and deposit accepted is your responsibility. The roofer says your product is faulty and you say the roofers are at fault. I will proceed with filing a legal claim to recoup my $1400 deposit, damages that your first installers did to the section they removed and legal fees.
A simpler option is to refund my deposit. I thank BBB for their efforts.

Gutter Helmet advertises a referral program but will not honor it. I referred a friend in June based on my having both their gutter product and also contracting with Gutter Helmet for a roof replacement. My friend gave my info to his sales rep on July 2 when he began his purchase. When my friend reached out to the sales rep to ask about my referral he admitted that he forgot to submit my info for the referral but assured him that he would take care of it. I have called them on 3 occasions to inquire about the referral, at first I was told that my friend had contacted them through an internet request which my friend denied. The last time I spoke with them in early October I was told that the sales rep had submitted my information and the referral fee was being processed. I still have yet to hear anything from Gutter Helmet not even a thank you for referring a new customer. Yet every month I receive email from them advertising their referral program that I am convinced does not exist.

I received a phone call from gutter helmet’s  “national operations manager”, Mike B*** on Nov 18.”, he said he had confirmed my referral fee was being processed but I still have not received anything. He could not provide an answer as to why it has taken from early July, over four months to get my referral fee. I’ll believe it when I see it.

1/2022 I had Gutter Helmet installed. We noticed that water flows over the top of the guard in at least one area. I contacted the company to file a claim to have it fixed. I thought maybe dirt was clogging the guard. I paid $50 service fee ( Since install -this is new as they claimed that it was free warranty) On August 30th the company had someone come to fix it. He said that the gutter was not dirty and the problem is that the guards were put on incorrectly. He was going to come back in a couple days as he needed a specific tool that he didn't have with him. He cancelled the appointment the morning of the 2nd appointment (lost his work key). I had to reschedule which was pushed out a few weeks due to the company scheduling issues. The company sent the same guy to fix it after he took photos to get help from the installer. Since August they have sent the the same guy three times who says it needs to be fixed by the install people not repair people. I have had to call to schedule at least 15 times as they do not answer my calls or return voicemails. I had another appointment on 10/16 which the company rescheduled to 10/18 without letting me know so I waited all day on the 16th and no one showed up. After several calls i received a text to tell me my appointment is 10/18. On 10/18 the same repair guy called me mid day to let me know that once again I was put on his schedule and it should of been the installers truck/schedule and that I needed to rescheduled again. I called the company again to reschedule for the 5th time and they said I needed to be put back in the system and it would be 2-3 weeks. 11/5 I called to see when the appointment is set, left voicemail, and finally got call letting me know that the installer is out of office and to give them until Friday or Monday to get someone to my home. Today 11/12 I have left 2 voicemails, no call back. The rain will running down the pillars. This needs to be fixed as the rain will only get worse.

The issue is in an area of the home that requires a 40' ladder to access. Our service tech was not able to reach this area. we have reschedule the service and are dispatching a crew to preform the service. we have the service currently scheduled for 11/21/24 weather permitting

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/13/2024

The tech was able to reach the spot. He was sent to my home several times. He reached the area with his tall ladder without an issue.  The problem is not the ladder, the problem is the company continues to schedule the same tech that is not qualified to fix issues of installs done incorrectly.  The company called me today to schedule the appointment for 11/21 after multiple voicemails that I left. I would like to keep this complaint open until 11/21 to make sure the company sends the correct person and the guards are correctly installed.  3 months, multiple appointments sending the same incorrect tech, appointments they don’t show up for and multiple calls seems like a customer services issue.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/19/2024

The company has not resolved the issue! They scheduled the appointment for 11/21 with the “correct install tech” to fix their mistake install.  Please do not close this file until they come to fix the mistake they made! I will update the file on 11/21 to either close it out or if I need your further assistance.

      Thank you!

We had our roof shingles replaced by Lednor Home Solutions-Gutter Helmut in 2020. We noticed issues right away, but we were told the shingles would settle down. We told the installer at the time of installation that if any plywood boards were bad, to replace them. We were told all boards were ok, but Foreman refused to hear my concerns. I asked company to backup their work and check boards. Company said everything would settle down. In 2023 I contacted company to look at shingles bulging up. Was told they were still ok. I questioned them about roof boards and told no issue. In spring of 2024 I called Lednor to complain about roof shingles bulging up. Company sent Inspector to review. INSPECTOR advised me that roof shingles bulging may be due to boards warping which is what I told them in 2020. Inspector advised his boss of concern over roof weakness and shingles bulging. Company management told me a roof repair crew would be out in late August to review problem. I have called Lednor Home Solutions every week since August to learn when my Warranty issue would be resolved. No one returns my calls with specific information and tells me nothing other than they received my message. It has been four years and Lednor still sells their products a d services, but does not honor their Warranties. This is a Federal Offense since they crosses state lines to sell and install defective workmanship.

I spent over $10K having these Gutter Helmets installed. The package included a lifetime warranty on the gutter system. Over the last several years, to no avail, I've called the company for service. They never answer the customer service line, the recording states they will get back in touch ASAP. I am still waiting for the return call. I didn't purchase the system, so I could continue to climb on the roof and unplug the gutters. Four weeks ago, I called them again, and once a week since, still waiting for a response. I need my Gutters service. I am just asking them to do what they said they would.

After the company was contacted by BBB, they immediately called and scheduled an inspector for a site visit.  The inspector came out found some damage that needs to be replaced along with some faulty installation that needs repair.  I agreed the repairs and fixes for a certain fee.  The inspector said he would email an agreement to sign before he could schedule his crew.  He has not sent the agreement yet!  Once I get the agreement and the fixes are done, i will be very comfortable in closing out the complaint.

The business has yet to honor the lifetime warranty on the Gutter Hamlets they installed.  It is true they scheduled an appointment for an inspector.  The inspector found several issues with the gutter system that need to be fixed, some covered under the warranty.  The inspector was email me a work order by Docsign over two weeks ago.  I call the business customer service line about not getting the work order, they said they would contact the local company and get it resolved.  That was the same statement customer service told me for several years when I called them about getting my system serviced.  Finial I got frustrated and opened the original claim with BBB, which did get the local installing company to respond.  It appears the business is just starting the stalling cycle all over again.  The system needs to be fixed.

A tree fell on our house in May 2024. We contracted with Lednor Home to repair gutter and soffit on June 11, 2024. They came out a few weeks later and started the job but have nor returned to finish the repair. I have made numerous phone calls to follow up and only gotten to leave a voice message. Our original contract with Gutter Helmet indicated that only their authorized contractors could do repairs/replacement. It is now September and the the work is still not completed. We paid 300 of the 902 dollar estimate, but again we are restricted by our lifetime warranty from using another contractor.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the recent service provided by Lednor regarding my warranty claim for clogged gutters that caused damage to the back of my house. Scheduling an inspector was an extremely lengthy and frustrating process, marked by significant delays and difficulty in obtaining assistance. When the inspector finally arrived, he didn’t even attempt to get on the roof to properly assess the issue. Instead, he quickly dismissed my claim, stating that Lednor could not service the gutters due to alleged damage caused by the roofer, who had supposedly used nails on the gutter helmet product. I was then advised to contact the roofing contractor who installed the new shingles. After contacting the previous homeowner, I was able to obtain the roofing company’s contact information. The roofing contractor came out the very next day to inspect the situation and immediately denied Lednor’s accusations. They emphasized their extensive experience working on homes with gutter helmets, **********, and ************** guards, stating that the type of nails Lednor claimed were used are not part of their standard materials. Furthermore, they explained that gutter helmets often complicate the shingle installation process, as the product overlaps the first few shingles. To avoid accusations like this and potential warranty issues, they ensure they do not interfere with gutter guard products. What frustrates me most is the complete lack of support and responsiveness from Lednor. It has been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone, and instead of taking responsibility or providing a solution, I have been forced to chase down other contractors to address these baseless accusations. This experience has been utterly disappointing, and I expect this issue to be resolved promptly and without further delays.

This customer is not our original customer that purchased our system. they called to do a warranty transfer for their system. upon inspection of the system our quality control inspected noticed that the system was removed and reinstalled by another contractor. this customer was informed of options that could bring the system back up to warranty standards. I have no notes stating if the customer wanted to move forward with these options. The system as in is installed at this time is no longer under warranty due to being tampered with from outside sources.

      Complaint: ********

Thank you for scheduling a quality control inspector to visit my home on 10/2/24 at 9 AM to assess my options. While I appreciate this step, I do not agree with accepting the case at this time. I believe it is premature to close the case before my options have been fully explained and a resolution has been reached. I respectfully request that the case remain open until I have been provided with and reviewed all potential options for repair or removal of the Gutter Helmet system. Thank you.

      Sincerely,
