2020, Alone and covid, caused ************** issues. My health provider at *************** helped me find a counseling place in order to just talk to someone. I found Bodhi Counseling. I explained I was low income, had financial aide through 2 hospitals and would not make an appointment with them unless they accepted my ******** which would pay 80% of their charges for counseling therapy as FULL payment. I did not have the money to pay the extra 20% balance. Deb, the girl I was speaking to, said she would make it very clear to the billing office that I did not have the ability to pay the 20%. 2 weeks later she called me to make an appointment with me. I asked her if they accepted my terms and she said she was sure because they told her to go ahead and schedule me. She scheduled my first appointment for June 16, 2020. I never received a bill, well, that was until June 15, 2021, a whole year later! In the meantime, May 2021, my implant in my hip fell apart, hospitalized in 3 different hospitals, which is when my daughter in law brought my mail withthe bill, then to therapy place then to a new home my kids bought for me to live next to them. All my bills n records packed! I called immediately and could not get through till August 24, 2021 when I only could leave a message. A girl named Carla phoned me back, said a new company took over so would take her some time to check out my story. Till January 2022, I called them and another girl said she didn't know anything about this and would check it out. Then March 21, 2022 this collection bill came. In 2020 my monthly income was $1160.00 I never would have committed to this therapy if I had known that they were not going to accept my ******** payment as full payment for their services!! No I do not, As I mentioned, I let them know immediately that I had no secondary insurance, and that unless they waived the 20% that medicare did not pay, I would not be able to use their service. I had already been with another counseling group until they could no longer waive the 20% and that was why I was looking for another counseling place. I told the lady not to schecule me unless they accepted my terms. A week later she called to tell me that they had scheduled me. I asked her are you sure they accepted my terms? and she said, well they scheduled you so they must have. I never received any documents to sign, nor did I receive any bills for over a year! Aftr 3 mths my girlfriend asked if I had gotten a bill because she got one 2 months later, no. I said. I do know mail was terribly slow because of covid, but I was getting mail, just never from bhodi. With a signed release giving us permission to share PHI with the BBB we would be able to potential respond to specifics of this complaint. Our duty to protect confidentiality for former or current clients is our priority and we take it seriously. We regret that we are not able to respond with specifics. I told them from the very beginning that I did not have a secondary and that they were not to schedule me for an appointment until they agreed to wave the 20% that Medicare did not cover. I do this with ALL the doctors I have and with previous counseling service. Even Christiana Hospital in Delaware and Union Hospital in Elkton Md I am on their Financial Assistance Program. Also, that is NOT my signature on their form nor have I ever been to their office!
