      We stayed at the ******************* this summer. Our water had to be manually turned on and off due to a striped shower knob that wouldn't turn off the water. We had to turn our water on whenever we wanted to shower, use the bathroom or do laundry. The water knob was located in a bedroom and in the evenings we would have to disturb the people sleeping to turn on the water. One evening someone that was staying with us got a stomach virus and spent most of the evening turning the water on and off so she could use the restroom. The problem was reported immediately, staff came out and stated a plumber had to fix the issue. We spent the rest of our vacation having to turn the water on and off because the plumber couldn't come to our place due to traffic being bad!? We asked for a full refund and the owner refused and would only offer us $100. We asked for $300 and never heard back from the company. A week later I called in again to request my $300 and was told we'd get a call back. We were on vacation a month ago now and have not heard back from Shoreline Properties about our complaint and request for a refund. I would give them a 0 rating but that is not possible.

      Sorry, you had a problem during your stay it certainly was an unusual problem. In answering your complaint, I will give you a timeline as we have recorded. After 5 days into your vacation on 08/05 at 7:07 pm you called our after-hour answering service to report that the shower faucet had come off. At 07:36 PM on 08/5 my inhouse maintenance man was at your apartment and turn off the main water supply to stop the handle from leaking. That type of repair requires a licensed plumber and he was unable to go any further with the repair. He explained to you how to turn on and off the water supply as needed so you could still function. The next morning on 08/6 a day before you check out we called a local licensed plumber explained the repair that was needed and they said they would take care of it today. We gave them your phone number to coordinate access to make the repair. From there we assumed the repair would be taken care of. As we have been told by the plumber, they called you late afternoon on
      08/06 and said they were on their way but they were running late and the traffic was very heavy. They said you told them not to worry you could come tomorrow after you had checked out. Then the following morning they made the repair. Then following all that you asked for a full refund, and a day later I call the owner of Lost Colony and he was puzzled why you would want a full refund for what was uncontrolled and we did our best to resolve it as quickly as possible. After that conversation he offer a $100 refund which was refused by you. Then you made an offer to accept $300 which he again refused. After another call today to the owner of the Lost Colony he has agreed to increase his refund to $150 and that is as far as he will go. We are sorry that this problem occurred but we did all we could under the circumstances to make a repair.

      I had to leave the premises a day early. Here is why: We arrived on Friday July 30 with a check out for Monday, Aug 2, however on Sunday morning at round 2:30 am, there were bug/worm like things crawling in my bed (Master room). I killed the first one, then a few minutes after that I saw another one in my bed. I said hell no I have got to leave. I went next door to my daughter's room and slept with her and that morning (Sunday, Aug 1st) I got my family together and we vacated the premises. Sunday morning I also sent an email with PICTURES to the establishment and reported it to the desk clerk as we checked out. No acknowledgement. There was no table to eat at in the kitchen/living rm area, the lighting in the living room and bedrooms were very dim to none you could hardly see. We had rely on tiny lamps in the rooms which didn't give off ample light. I almost slipped in the upper level bathroom tub because there was no rubber mat. No trash cans were in the bedrooms only one in the kitchen. The balcony off the master bedroom has very old unappealing plastic chairs that looked like it had been painted over a thousand times, you can get brand new white plastic chairs for cheap at a ******* or ******, also the cocktail table on the master balcony was uneven so you could not place food or drinks on it. The master bedroom rug had stains on it. The Chocolate bedspread had a white stain on it and that area was still damp, so that led me to believe they don't wash the bedspreads with each check out. I enjoyed the activities at OC but the condo is horrible. Will not deal with Shoreline Properties again.

      Sorry that your stay at the *********** building was unsatisfactory. That owner has many custom features like granite counter top in the kitchen, has a custom lighted tray ceiling in the living area and real hardwood floors. You are right there is no dining table in the living area but they have a large picnic table on the covered outside balcony so you would have more space in your living area with their section sofa and flat screen TV. I don't know how a worm like bug was in your bed on the second day of your three days stay. I went up personally with a maintenance man and we took a black light and we removed all beds in all rooms and found no sign of any bugs or fecal material they usually leave behind. Any time you stay with us we have two maintenance people that work to 10:00PM during the summer and if you need trash cans or have a dirty spread, they could have addressed those issues for you. The *********** is a spacious two-story condo unit and rents well with return guests every year. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.

      I still hold to my statement and will not change my review. When I told the front desk why I was leaving they were very nonchalant about it and had nothing to say about it. I didn't even ask for any type of refund and do not ever wish to stay there ever again.

      I know what I saw and even e-mailed pictures which speak for themselves. You didn't see anything because they were in the sheets when I saw them twice in one night!!
