I recently started my commercial business and reached out for commercial insurance. I called to find out if they provided commercial insurance and was told that they do. I told them this is my first time doing this and I needed insurance that met the requirements of the FMCSA. I was given a quote and paid the deposit and first month of insurance after 30 days I was informed by the FMCSA that they never put in my coverage and I was uninsured. I reached back out to progressive commercial and was told I need to pay more money but they weren't able to give me what I needed. I then asked for a refund and now they are telling me I owe them but I was never covered properly and was not able to run my truck due to this situation so I lost money and was refused a refund all because someone dropped the ball on there end and they refused to take responsibilityBusiness response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/22) */ The policyholder contacted our agency 11/29/2021 requesting a quote for his commercial business. A quote was provided at which time the policyholder informed us that he was satisfied with the quote provided and would call back the next day with his banking information to start the policy. We are a broker agent that has authority to issue policies through progressive. The policy was issued upon his request as quoted. The policyholder signed the applications as written and returned to our agency at which time we forwarded to progressive. The policyholder then reached out to our agency 12/29/2021 requesting a filing for the FMCSA. Our agency contacted progressive regarding this request and we were informed that the policy would have to be re-written due to his USDOT # indicated that the business was registered as an LLC and we were not informed of that at the time of issue. We contacted progressive commercial immediately and received quotes to re-write under the corrected business name with the correct limits of liability required for that filing. The policy holder was contacted and informed of all updates and what would need to happen in order to satisfy his request. The policyholder then informed us he would like to cancel the policy. I contacted progressive to cancel the policy, and as requested by the policyholder, asked to be canceled back to the issue date of the policy and issued a full refund. I was informed that this was not possible due to the insurance was provided for that month. The policy holder stated to me that progressive should have known what he needed at which time I responded that he did not indicate at the time of application that a filing was needed. I then gave him the contact number for progressive so he could discuss with them further. According to progressive there will be no refund issued, as the requested insurance was provided at the time of issue and was in place 1 month before notifying us that he needed a filing.
