I was sent to this oral surgeon for a consultation by my dentist Dt. ******* ********. I had an area of concern on my lower jaw found on a routine xray that she was unsure what it was. I was given a copy of the xray and a referral which I took and dropped off at Dr. D****s office. I went for the consultation on January 10th at 3 pm. After checking in I was lead back to what I believe was an exam room by a Medical Tech. She asked why I was there and I told her I was not completely sure. I told her that Dr. K***** had saw something on a routine xray that concerned her and was unsure what it was and she wanted to get a Oral Surgeon to look at me. The tech said that the xray I proved them was of such poor quality that it was unusable and the information on the referral was vague. She said that Dr. D**** wanted me to get a $325.00 scan done to evaluate and that my insurance would not cover it. I asked her if the doctor could please speak with me and explain what was going on or what they were looking for because I did not understand what the concern was. She walked into the next cubicle where Dr. D**** was and I could hear their conversation. She told him that I'd like to speak with him to better understand why I needed the scan and what the concern was. He replied no I will not see him until the scan is done. She returned and told me said I needed to get the scan done before he'd see me. I told her this was all very confusing and unless he would explain to me why I needed the scan and what the concern was I would go back to my dentist for more direction. I went to Dr. ******'s office and explained what had occurred and she said she could not believe he refused to speak with me. She said the info she proved him was clear. I received a bill for a consultation yesterday for $160.00. I called the office and explained the doctor refused to see or talk to me and therefore did not provide a consultation and I should not be billed.
