On or about 8/21/2022, I took my car in to be serviced because it would not start. I received an estimate over the phone for a diagonostic of $60. After getting my car serviced I went to pay for the car. The mechanic showed me that my total was $1074. When I got home and looked closer at the receipt I saw that there were some charges that were different than they should have been. The diagnostic fee had increased to $120 and there was a service charge that was added after the total quote of $1074 of $37.61. I spoke to the merchant who said that he informed me of both charges which he did not. The diagnostic fee was just as high as the dealer, where I would have gone if I was correctly notified that they were the same. Additionally, I was not informed about the service fee at all until I called and complained, wherein he replied that there are signs posted about the service fee. Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/10/20) */ when intial phone call was made to drop off their car we were told it was a starter/battery issue which would be a $60 check out. when vehicle got here it was an electrical/security issues which put diagnoistics to $120.which we always call with any changes. customer then was called back with an estimate which they approved. our policy with credit/debit card convience fees aplies to everyone to keep cost down.at each time a customer is called for an estimate and/or to be told its finished these fees are explained again. if there is an issue whether someone doesnt like our estimate or the merchant fees they have the right to decline any and all repairs. customer wasnt upfront with what was going on with vehicle and was very difficult to deal with.
