I have shopped at MOM's organic market for years, its been more convenient being a smaller store to shop because I am a woman that lives with disabilities. All these years I was under the impression the entire store was ORGANIC considering their name which i found out last year was not the case. They have a 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed which provides full refund on items. i am a woman that lives with multiple disabilities including PTSD Buying mostly produce and items in the bulk section (bring my own containers, to produce less waste) i was having to return spoiled, bad, stale, expired, items but i also had to return items due to my visual impairment being unable to see the ingredients and buying things that were against my religion and personal beliefs to consume. i re-turned produce that once bitten mold was seen inside, spices from the bulk section that were stale that completely ruined meals. i made a suggestion that they should document when they put the bulk items on the floor to prevent selling stale items. i explained that it wasn't fair that they were reweighing produce items that were being returned because they were bad, spoiled on 12/22/22 to ******* a new manager and that if she would relay the suggestion that we should be fully refunded per their store policy. 2days later 12/24/22 i was told i was no longer allowed to return items, a manager ****** stated i have made to many returns these returns consisted of produce and bulk grains and spices that were molded, spoiled, bad, shouldn't have been sold to begin with. All they had do was implement a system of documenting when they put items out to besold there is nothing saying there is a limit to how many returns someone makes. i have witnessed others returning similar things. i was singled out humiliated, caused emotional distress, anxiety & other things due to this The fact that for several years they have not been refunding me the full amount as their policy states is bad business practices

The refrigeration system at this moms is terrible! I consistently have to return food , such as yougurt and cheese products. My latest returns were moldy cheeses and yogurt. I spoke with *** who advised that he was going to have someonme check into it. I was offered $10 for moldy yogurt after consuming it! Really! I want this vendor to improve the refrigeration system immediately before someone gets sick! Why be a heath food store and have bad refrigeration. HEep! Love the Moms and the staff; but attention needs to be taken seriiously as it relates to the the refrigeration system!

MOM's Organic illegally over-collected taxes on my purchase on November 2, 2021 at its Arlington location. I complained to the store manager but the store has not refunded the over-collected taxes. Details below: On November 2, 2021, I visited MOM's Organic Market's Arlington location and purchased two jars of whey protein powder, which amounted to $67.98. As my receipt shows, MOM's charged me taxes TWICE. First, I was charged a 6 percent sales tax, and then I was charged a 2.5 percent food tax. This is an illegal overcharge. Under the VA Tax Code, the total tax on food for home consumption may not exceed 2.5 percent. Since the VA Department of Taxation considers specialty dietary foods (such as protein shakes) to be food for home consumption, the whey protein powder falls within the 2.5 food tax cap. Even if it does not fall within the cap for some reason, it is illegal to collect BOTH the 2.5 percent food tax AND the 6 percent sales tax. I went back to the store on November 3, at 2pm to speak with the store manager. Instead of refunding me the over-collected taxes, he impatiently said that there was nothing he could do that day, that he needed to research the issue and call me later, and that I'd have to come back to the store for a refund. I said that it is manifestly inconvenient to ask the customer to make yet another trip, but he looked at me without responding, took my number and email, and quickly walked away. I am extremely disappointed in this behavior because the entire reason that I shop at MOM's is that I admire its environmentalist ethos. To reduce my carbon footprint, I do not make frequent trips there to buy groceries. The manager telling me to come back a third time flies in the face of the carbon-reducing ethic the company espouses. Just as importantly, it is clear that the company does not care about its illegal over-collection of taxes because no one has contacted me about a refund. I demand a refund of the over-collected taxes.
