I went to apply for a apartment/ townhouse the man name ***** told me that I qualify for a apartment- townhouse they took my $103.50 and five days later they lies to me about seven things. They lied about my daughter name on my voucher, about my voucher expired, about my paperwork was not right, I dont send the paperwork back on response, he was not answering my phone messages and calling, I feel they rejected my application for Color and my disability and I feel that I was taking advantage of the people and I want my refund of my money back $103.50Initial Complaint

I applied for 1 bedroom apartment and I was asked to pay $100 for application fees and $1500 for the deposit, on January 09 2023 I paid the requested fees. Then 3 weeks later I received a call from the leasing agent *********************, saying that the tenant in the apartment where I were supposed to move in is no longer moving out because he has changed his mind and the Law require them to keep him and they will refund me the full amount of my expenses ******* 10 business days. I have been calling them and they keep pushing me away to wait without giving me any real date and I urgently need my money back.Initial Complaint

Hello, I already paid for the debt it was showing on my credit history ($960) and my credit has been updated. I and my husband applied for an apartment but they still denied our application. We urgently need your help. Would you please help us with this problem? Each time we have to pay a $100 money order nonrefundable to apply. And I have sent you the letter they sent me today in that regard. I have been a resident of *** ** *** **** since July 2021. The building has been infested for mice for over a year. The entire building- HVAC, walls, ceilings, apartment units - everything is infested with mice. There is also now a bed bug issue spreading throughout units. There is no security at all. My car was vandalized in the amount of $1700 on the property. My daughter and I witnessed a shooting in front of us in the parking lot. We have been staying in a hotel and I have incurred thousands of dollars in expenses because I cannot live in my unit nor do I feel safe there. *** ** *** **** and Kay Management have not offered to help in any significant manner and are expecting to still receive the full amount of rent. They are slumlords running communities full of health and safety violations and hazards. They do not care about residents or their families and what their negligence is putting people through.Initial Complaint

I moved out of ***** Apartments by 12/31 which was the date agreed upon with ******************. I decided to check my bill early Jan 2022 and saw that there was a remaining balance of $1267 which I didn't understand because it was agreed that I would be allowed out of the lease even when their were numerous pest control issues, leakages in the apartment, my ceiling open for 5 months with ill-fitting cardboard and no smoke detector connected due to the water damage, not to mention inept and rude staffing. I then reached out, 3 times with no response until I wrote the Silver Spring Office. I asked that they remove the charge and keep the security deposit because of the hasty move due to the death of a parent. 1/18, I see that the bill has increased by an additional $410. Attached is the email exchange. ****************** said that they were closing documents and that it would be cleared. I still see the charge. I have maintained a *** credit rating because I pay bills on time which is documented, including the ridiculous rent they charged for very few services rendered, and am unclear as to why I continue to feel unheard and disregarded by this organization. I worked in **** so my next step is to go to the *** of Maryland with this if not resolved. I reached out again on 1/21 and no one returned the call. This shouldn't be how organizations treat tenants. I want the charges removed and want nothing more to do with Kay Management and I suggest that they get a better-trained staff to handle business especially given the rating seen here, which is well deserved.Initial Complaint

On Friday, September 17, 2021 my sister ************************* and I ******************* moved into ******** **** Apartment. From the very beginning we been having maintenance issues with the apartment. Friday, October 1, 2021 the toilet had flooded half the hallway of the apartment around 10:20am. It took 5 hours for maintenance to respond. The rental office called the contractor late because the contractor was almost about to get off from work since it was 5:45pm when they came. The contractor took up the entire rug and wood only left was concrete. The property manager said she couldn't move us into another unit because we been living in the apartment for a month. For 3 days my sister, her 5-year old daughter and I stayed in the apartment with a nasty odor from the flooding. My sister and her daughter had to sleep in the living room because of the odor and the floor. It took a total of 6 to 10 days for the wood to be installed and then the carpet being though its a quote on quote process. On Tuesday, October 12, 2021 maintenance had came to fix my kitchen draw and right closet door for the 3rd time. The maintenance guy was huffing and puffing and getting frustrated because he couldn't fix the draw and he damage the draw even worse. The property manager and lease consultant is unprofessional and have no respect for their residents. I put in my 60-day notice and the property manager approved it. The property manager filed a 30 day notice for us to vacate the apartment early with their company attorney. The lease consultant and property manager is Retaliating against us because they say we complain too much, they are rude, disrespectful, and trying to take advantage of us because we are young and this is our first apartment. We just reaching out for someone to assist us with this situation and see how we can go about this. Sincerely,************************* and *******************
