To whom it may concern, Yesterday (12/12/2022) I used Reed Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. (***************.com) to do standard maintenance service on my furnace and my hot water heater. Before my home was serviced, my furnace was working fine, and my thermostat was working fine without any issues. A few hours after having my furnace serviced, I noticed that my thermostat was no longer working. I called **** back, and he then charged me another $340 on top of the $350 he charged, plus an additional $50 in trucking fees. The next day (12/13/2022), we started to smell a gas-like smell upstairs. To be safe, we call ************** to come and inspect our home. After surveying our home and inspecting possible issues, the technician from ************** tells us that the smell we are smelling is Aldehyde. He points out that the contractor (Reed energy) never cleaned a part of the furnace and did not replace the filter, so the fumes circulated throughout the house. The technician from ************** said that for our family's safety, he would have to shut off the furnace completely until we resolved this issue. The technician from ************** also mentioned that the fact that he put in his report that he changed the air filter and did not is very alarming because there is no filter to stop dust or fumes from circulating in the house. My furnace was running for over 24 hours without the filter. I called Reed energy while the technician from the gas company was still at my house, and he told me that cleaning the furnace is not a part of the standard maintenance and that there would be an extra charge for that. Not only was I overcharged a total of $663.30 (with a so-called 10% discount) just for standard maintenance on my furnace and hot water heater, but my family's life was put in danger all because of the willful negligence of this contractor.
