I took my 4 year old dog there to have fluid drained from her abdomen and have an ultrasound. We left her there at 9:30 pm. I spoke to the doctor at 2:30/2:45 pm the following day, the fluid was drained, they did the ultrasound and we were going to pick her up at 6 pm. We got there at 6, were stuck in a room for 2 1/2 hours. My husband and I went out every 30 minutes to see what was taking so long, we were only picking her up. We were blown off by a nasty receptionist, then told twice her go home medication wasn't ready. Finally someone came in with her discharge papers and then went to get our dog, we were so excited to see her. A few minutes later a different tech came in, said the vet wanted to talk to us, we walked into the room, the vet met us and said "I'm sorry, she just arrested". We sat there for 2 1/2 hours asking nicely for our dog and what the hold up was and she died alone while we were waiting. No one had answers! There were many red flags: she still had an IV in and had a fan blowing directly in her face which she hated and would not have tolerated unless she was out of it. I requested her medical records and found that she had been given IV medications of Trazadone, Ondansetron, a "trial medication" and FENTANYL. Fentanyl is 100 times stronger than morphine and this dog wasn't in pain. I'm sure she was uncomfortable but not in pain. I called around and checked, no one could believe she was given fentanyl and said there removing fluid from her abdomen was not painful. She didn't even have a stitch. According to the records her discharge papers and medication was ready at 5:30 prior to us even arriving. We believe she either overdosed or when they went to get her, she was so out of it that they gave her something to wake her up and that killed her. They blamed it on being short staffed, their server going down causing confusion, etc. They may have a "board certified vet" but I've never seen such negligence or disregard for life.
