I purchased a 2016 ****** ******* from Carmix, Inc., for my elderly mother who was in need of a safer car, on September 24, 2022. The dealer promised me the car was safe to drive and said the car passed Maryland’s vigorous inspection, Maryland having one of the strictest inspection standards. Shortly after purchasing the car, I noticed the steering was off as the car kept veering to the left. I took the car to my mechanic who notified me the car was in need of around $6000 in repairs. For a fairly newer vehicle, it should not have this much damage and this dealer should not have sold a car in this poor of a condition. I believe this dealer knowingly and maliciously sold a car that was unsafe to drive with no regard for the harm such an unsafe vehicle could have caused on the driver. When I asked him to take the car back or even cover the cost of the repairs, he replied back stating that the car was out of warranty and it was not his problem. I told him it was bad business to sell unsafe cars and, at a minimum, should be safe to drive. I also asked him to produce the Maryland inspection report to which he has not. It is not right that someone can sell junk to people and hang their hat on a useless warranty to scam people out of their hard earned money. A dealer should be selling safe cars. I am seeking to return this vehicle back to the dealer for a full refund of the $14,500 I paid for this unsafe and junk car.

we have sold a vehicle to this costumer on 9/ 24 /2022 and the costumer has test driven the vehicle and purchased it cash. she is an out of state costumer and we are Maryland dealer and she lives in VA and she is responsible for inspection. the costumer bought the car with only engine and transmission warranty which is one month or 1000 miles which ever comes first. all the repairs she is referring to are maintenance of the vehicle such as oil change or filter, fluid change or other maintenance things. None of them are related to engine or transmission and the warranty with us is expired. the warranty paper signed by costumer is attached.

      thanks

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because they are knowingly selling unsafe cars to people and looking them and their kids in the face and saying the car passed a Maryland inspection and that it was safe. I just took the car to get a Virginia inspection and they found all the same issues I stated in my complaint: bad control arms, bearings, struts, and even a ridiculous amount of rust. The car FAILED a Virginia inspection like I told him it would. Please look at the pictures. Look at how horrible the car looks. You can even see where the control arms are separating. I had kids and my elderly mother in this car not knowing that at any moment the control arms, bearings, struts, etc could have gave out and caused a fatal accident, and this business owner has the audacity to tell me too bad, too sad but I played you for a fool, got your money, and risked yours and your family’s life. People like him belong in jail for being liars, fraudsters, shameless, and unethical. I want everyone to know the type of scum this owner is and how he’s willing to put people’s lives in danger selling them unsafe cars, taking advantage of military veterans like me who fight to defend this country with HONOR so that some scum like this owner with NO HONOR or shame can cheat others. I want him to pay for the repairs. I will not let this go because this is a wrong that requires correction.

Attachments: photos underneath the car showing the rust and damaged areas; email exchange with the owner where he LIED and said the car passed a Maryland inspection and in his response to my BBB complaint he admits he didn’t do one even though he is required by Maryland law to have his cars inspected before selling them to the public. All of this would have been prevented if he did his due diligence and had his cars checked before selling them to the public. I also attached a second repair estimate from a ****** dealer identifying the same items, and it’s NOT maintenance items but big ticket items that should be in proper working order before one sells a car.

Bottom line: work with me through here to resolve this. I am not letting this go and will go through the court system next for relief. I have consulted with an attorney and I’m prepared to do that.

      Regards,

      ***** ******

Hi this is a response to Complaint ID ********. Because the problem was solved the costumer stated that she will remove the complain that is why we have responded late to this complaint.

We have spoken to the costumer in regards to this problem several times. We have attempted to resolve the issue. The costumer warranty with us was only on the engine and transmission , and the problem was electrical and was not part of the warranty with us .Despite the fact that she had extended warranty and the warranty with us was only on engine and transmission we have attempted to fix the vehicle and paid for all the costs which we have the receipts for it.  The problem with the vehicle was the alternator. We have purchased an alternator for this vehicle and replaced it at our cost and costumer called us and said ******* said that it needs reprograming , costumer brought the car back and we did the computer reprogramming at our cost. After that costumer called back and said that the alternator we have purchased brand new from ******** was defected and she purchased another one and replaced it and the problem is solved and she no longer has any problem with the vehicle.

      Thanks

I purchased a vehicle and a warranty from this place this is my second vehicle i have purchased. First one was paid off during insurance claim. The seller knowingly sold me a faulty vehicle and turned off all alerts on the vehicle. I’ve had to bring my car to these people a total of 6 times since I’ve had this vehicle. I have a job and also a child these people have been calling and harnessing me about a loaner while they have my vehicle! He is refusing to trade my vehicle after promising this would be the solution! I completed The application online as told and he’s complaining about the way i speak!

The Vehicle she purchased did not have any issues when she purchased it. she had 30 days engine and transmission warranty with Carmix and she also has 3 years extended warranty that covers engine and transmission and more.   she drove the car about one month and more than 1000 miles and she brought the vehicle to us , the warranty with carmix was expired but we still took care of her , even though the parts were not under warranty . we gave her a loaner car for the period of time until the car was fixed. car needed tune up, nothing major. we fixed the car with carmix cost and she did not pay a penny towards the repairs. we did not use her extended warranty that she has for 3 years. the second time she came back and said the radio does not work and we found out that she spit coffee on it and we fixed that for free as well. the car did not have any major mechanical issues. and we gave her the car with no problem. she wanted to trade the car so I asked her to send me the application. she sent it and every time she was unsure which car she wants to purchase. she talked to me on the phone and said she is not sure and for that reason we did not submit and she asked us to not submit. she sent application twice and every time she was not sure. during this process she was very rude even though carmix did everything we could to make the process easy and we paid for all repairs and we also gave her a loaner.
