08/12/21 I contracted scope restoration inc located at 8A Irongate Drive Waldorf, MD 20634 for a roof repairs. The cost priced at $12,426.16 and a down payment of $4187.00. I gave the down payment in cash to an employee of the company. The starting date was stated to be 2-3 weeks from that day. The problems started happening when the job was put on hold because we were not able to get a date and time to get the solar panels removed, Solar city were too backed up and the project wasn't going to be completed anytime soon. Scope restoration could have removed the Solar panels but the warranty would have been voided and I didn't want that. So a couple of months go by and nothing was happening so I requested a refund to which the the employee who I met and gave the cash to agreed to and put me in contact with the owner. The owner said yes that he has the money with him, to just text the amount in which I did. A couple of days go by and I haven't received my refund and so I contact him again and he claimed that he didn't received the money that his salesperson had stole the money. Ever since then he started dodging my calls. So I'm writing to see what legal actions I can take in hopes I get my refund back. Its a lot of money that I hope I don't lose. I feel like its messed up that I paid a lot of money for a job just for them to take my money and not complete the job. How can I trust other contractors to not do the same thing.Business response

Scope Restoration never received the cash funds. The signed contract turned in says $0 deposit, the homeowner never produced a receipt. The salesman in question that received the supposed funds is no longer with scope restoration. Scope Restoration realizes we are responsible for the people we put in our clients homes and is willing to reimburse the homeowner for the lost funds. We wish to clear this complaint as we had no wrong doing.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I want my reimbursement as soon as possible, I've waited far to long for it. I would appreciate it if you give me my money. I shouldn't be the one to pay for your bad employee. I have nothing to do with him not given you the down payment money as you are aware of this aswell. Thank you.
