In May 2021, I leased a vehicle from Fitzgerald- sold to me by *****. I had a witness with me in store that day. we can pull camera footage from that day. In the process of the transaction, I was met with racism and prejudice. They interrogated me about my job and tried to force a higher down payment than needed out of me. I made it clear I wanted my vehicle registered in Virginia that day (with a witness there in case an event like this happened). They illegally registered my vehicle in MD. When I asked ***** why, she proceeded to tell me they thought I was fraud (which was clearly picked up on by the harassment and prejudice I underwent there). I let her know that’s a breach of contract and illegal for a business to operate on such basis’. Maria believed we were cooler than what we were because she told me, I front of my young child, that she left her child's father because he was abusive and shared her sons stories which again was highly inappropriate, but gives grounds to why she thought she could tell me about blatant illegal activities they were doing. I paid $499.99 for the process and tags/registration, which a year later I have not received. At first, they denied me any help which I have documented. I asked them to correct it on their end, they refused. I asked for a refund, they refused. I contacted corporate several times to no avail. Then finally I refused to get off the line with corporate until someone does something to help. They reached back out saying they just needed my insurance information to process my paperwork for my tags, I gave them the information. They then said they can no longer help me. I explained how its illegal and breach of contract among many other things, then then said I can not register my vehicle in Virginia without a Virginia residence I have ownership. This is a lie because I personally know of 2 people in the past year that registered in VA with no issue. I will be suing. they will be held accountable. *sending more photosBusiness response

To Whom It Concerns:
This customer has made defamatory statements in her letter that are blatantly not true. Most of her statements are distortions of the truth. We deny each and every allegation.
In response to "they interrogated me about my job and tried to force a higher down payment":
This customer required us to arrange financing for this purchase with a lender. Applying for a loan at any bank will always require information to determine credit risk. In some cases, the banks require more than customary information to mitigate their risk in making a credit decision. *** *******'s circumstance required this additional information and down payment.
In response to "they illegally registered my vehicle in Maryland": The customer purchased a vehicle and asked, at delivery, to have her vehicle titled in Virginia, even though she lived in Maryland. It was explained to her at that time that she needed documentation proving she had interest in Virginia, as required by the State of Virginia. She could not provide any of the required documentation. We also advised her that Maryland state law would require her to title (and pay the mandated Maryland excise tax) her vehicle in Maryland because she resided there.
The customer agreed to this and signed the required paperwork to properly title the vehicle in Maryland. We processed the application for Maryland title and paid the mandated excise tax. We could not get her registration due to the Maryland Insurance Compliance Division's stop on her record.
We have documentation of continuous efforts on our part to help the customer register the vehicle in both Maryland and Virginia. Virginia will not title or register her vehicle without the needed documentation proving she had some interest in Virginia. The state of Maryland will not allow the customer to register her vehicle until she settles her outstanding fines and fees.
To this date, the customer has not settled her obligations with the State of Maryland and cannot provide any documentation required by the State of Virginia. We still have not registered her vehicle in either Maryland or Virginia, in spite of our continued effort to do so.
She has advised us that she working with an attorney. We have invited her to have her attorney contact us
Respectfully,

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:
They again, made false claims on every section of addressing my claim. I have all the documentation to support my claims, as well as asked them to pull cameras- which they refused to do so. Voicemail recordings, screenshots, ect. This matter is being legally escalated. The business needs to be reprimanded or flagged in some manor. Thank you!
Regards,
