I took in my Kitten today to get seen so that she could be spayed. I told them I only wanted to get the minimum stuff that would be needed done for a spay. The Dr. never explained what she was going to do, after the tech weighed her, the Dr. came in and just said they would need to draw blood and she told me I needed to leave the room. I stepped out and they closed the door, I could hear the Dr. giving instructions to the tech on how to draw blood.. i can only hope they weren't using my kitten as practice!!! Then when they let me back in the exam room, the exam was already over and all shots were given, without telling me about what they were going to do. The Dr did say my cat was sneezing so she gave her an antibiotic shot. I was very shocked that I was not allowed to witness the examination and administration of vaccines/tests performed. I was also shocked when I was gave a $274 bill. I made it clear that I only wanted the minimum treatment done that was required for a spay, and I believe she charged me for extra services I did not want. The receptionist (not the vet) told me as I was leaving that I would also need a stool sample, however I told her she's an outside cat that doesn't use a litter box so I would not be able to get one. She gave me a bottle and told me to try anyway. When I got home and saw they already charged me $67 for the stool sample, I called them immediately and requested a refund for that portion. They said they could not gave me a refund because I already paid and left with the little plastic bottle. I was very upset that I wasn't allowed to be in the room/watch the exam and for the extra charges that I was not informed about.
