On May 18th, 2023, I, ******************* and my husband, *********************** entered into a contract with Richard Eugley Builders, ************ to re-build our basement after some flooding after a storm at the beginning of May. We signed a contract on May 18th for a total of $2,600.00 and gave Mr ********************** $1,300.00 deposit. He stated he would start the project towards the end of May which would consist of him removing old ********************* putting new sheet rock up, taping, mudding and priming sheet rock for painting and doing an Epoxy Floor. And also painting the trim and door on our garage. After completion, we would give him the remaining $1,300. Mr. ********************** started the painting of the Garage trim, but never finished. He did not show up at the end of May for the basement project. After contacting him, he stated he would be there on June 8th as he was running behind on another job. Still, Mr. ********************** did not show up. We contacted him again, and he stated he would be there June 13th because he was sick. He then said he would be there on June 19th. He showed up for just a couple of hours to take down some of the old Sheetrock. He left a big mess and all of his tools in our basement. He never returned. We contacted him several times and he always said he was going to be back tomorrow, but tomorrow never came. My husband and I picked up his mess and had to dispose of the old sheet rock at our local transfer station costing us more money. We had to hire someone else to finish the garage ************ We hired another contractor to construct our basement which cost us additional money. Mr. ********************** called my husband at the beginning of August stating he wanted his tools back. My husband stated that once he refunded us the money that he took from us, we would gladly give him back his tools. Mr. ********************** contacted my husband at the end of August and they agreed on $1,000 refund taking into consideration the few hours of labor and material that he purchased less the expenses we incurred to dispose of construction debris, and he could have his tools. Mr ********************** said he would stop by on August 24th, with our refund and to pick up his tools, but he never showed up or contacted us. His tools still remain in our basement. He strung us along for months while our basement remained in chaos. By the time we realized he was never going to come back all other contractors were booked up for the summer and now our basement, which is also part of our living space (office, library and gym) that we have been unable to use since May. This is now scheduled to Be completed at the end of September by someone else. We would like a refund of $1,000 as agreed on and for Mr ********************** to come pick up his tools as soon as possible.

On September 15, 2022 I entered into a contract with Mr. ********************** to install red oak stair treads and risers on bottom floor leading up to the main floor. Railings will also be installed, red oak rails, posts and black metal ballasts. Mopboards and trim will be done to match the style of the upstairs. Posts and beams will also be wrapped with red oak, with 45 degree miter joints to resemble a solid beam. White baseboard and casings trim will be installed. An electrical panel box will be made from red oak as well and insulated with 2" foam. All red oak will be stained as discussed with polyurethan finish. At the time of signing I was told I needed to give Mr ********************** a check for half the cost for materials which was $1945. I recently learned that it is illegal to ask for more than 1/3 up front for any project over $3000 in the **************. Mr ********************** stated in the agreement that the cost to complete would be $3890. He also stated that work would start the end of September and would be a 1/2 week to complete. Mr. ********************** delivered lumber while bringing it in through the window he did a bit of damage to it requiring sanding, priming and painting. On October 15th Mr ********************** returned to plain the wood. After that Mr ********************** would schedule work but never show up. He finally made one last scheduled work evening on November 11, 2022. I had asked that he also build another door. That evening he handed me a bill for $900 with a down payment of $450. I reached out to Mr ********************** on Saturday and asked that he return the check. He said he cashed it. On Monday I called my bank to learn it had not cleared and had them cancel the check. Mr ********************** also scheduled to return to work November 13th and 14. No Show. I reached out to him on November 16h asking for a return of money. He scheduled three different dates all no show. The wood he sold me I was told is not usable.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. Unfortunately the last communications was November 30th via ******** messenger in which he wanted to pick up his tools on Saturday and be done with this as soon as possible.  I responded that I was not available until Wednesday and that I did expect a full refund.  He responded back "sounds good *****."  I told him that there was no need to be rude and that my name was *****.  He sent a thumbs up.  Mr. ****** never showed up.  I have attached the last communications from Mr. *********************** Mr ********************** has had multiply opportuities to pick up his tools, material and return my money.  He has not done so.  His telephone voice mail is not set up to take messages. He no longer is on ******** messenger so there is no way of communicating with him.  After the last ******** post in which he resorted to name calling I am inclined not to reach out any further. If you can intervene on my behalf it would be much appreciated.  Thank you.
