I ordered siding for my house, Hammond lumber sales associate said it would be 6 to 8 weeks out before I get it. I was told through the sales associate that it was a returnable item. I had extra material leftover, so when I went to return the siding. Sales associate said it was a custom order that I can't return it after he said that I could. It was a large amount of cash that I lost. $5,000 hit. I will not do any more business through Hammond lumber again.Business response

Selling materials is our business and the world that we live in. It is our responsibility to clearly communicate to our customers. We stock certain materials and all other materials not in stock are considered "special order". When we order (in this case, over order) we are at the mercy of our vendor whether they will take back or not. The customer says that we told them that we could take back extra material. Our vendor will not and does not on this material. Hammond Lumber now has the material as it is in fact non-returnable to us.
We have compromised with our customer and agreed on a solution.
