I really don’t know where to start with the issues that we have with Gould Construction because I have such a long list of issues with this contractor. If you need or would like a complete listing of emails, text message, photos of these issues, I can supply them to you, just let me know. The biggest issue is that they walked away from the job without finishing it and they were fully paid. We signed a contract with Gould Construction to bring our house back to a ready to move in state (turn-key ready) after a fire. We told them what we wanted done and they agreed on it and the price. However, after they started doing the work, they seemed to ignore things we wanted and agreed on. They put some things together with no respect for what we wanted. We continued pointing out to them the things that were not being done as we discussed. Their painter was getting paint all over the new floors and the cabinets were not put in correctly. We made a list of things that we wanted corrected and left it for the contractor so they could see it. Even though things were not going correctly we thought the contractor was going to fix all these things before they were done. At least that was the impression they gave us. When we thought we were close to the end and the house was starting to look close to being done they asked us for the remainder of the $100,000 because they said they needed it to finish the job. We paid them except for $800 stating they would get the rest when the house was done. They agreed with this. The next time I went to check on the house the house was empty off all the contractor equipment and even the items that we paid for to put in the house. There were items that we personally purchased to put in the house that were also gone. The contactor picked everything up and left without any warning and we have not seen them again. To make this house turn-key ready now it would cost us about $20,000. We would settle for a refund of $10,000.
