    I had contacted the owners of the Applewood Inn on several occasions, but they had no vacancies which met my needs. In July, 2021, however, ***************************** (owner) asked me to drive from Portland to Freeport to discuss my needs, and the Inns (or Jennifers) other possibilities. We had a pleasant conversation, and she and her husband told me about the apt. bldg. they owned next door to the Inn, as well as two different room options in 2 different bldgs. Since I was in a desperate stressful search for housing (the real estate mkt. in ***** had been realizing an unprecedented surge due to Covid and the safety of being in *****), I was hoping to secure a longer term rental within the Applewood options. ******** offered me a large sunny 2nd floor room in the main bldg. the price was $3000 for the month. That price was for the room and private bath only; it did not include food or coffee. I took it. I gave them 2 checks; one for $3000 for the August rent, and one for $1000 as a security deposit. I moved in on Sunday. I was scheduled for noon, but willingly adjusted my schedule to accommodate Jennifers request for a 4:00 move in due to her housekeeping delays. All seemed fine until the guests directly above me started making noise - a child running back and forth and a dog running around. Since this is an old home with various re-designing to accommodate extra rooms, there was very little noise buffer. The loud banging and general noises from above, for hours and hours, concerned meespecially since as a ************************************************************************* never mind with little ones and animals. I sent a polite inquiry to ******** asking about the situation above. She apologized and said not all guests would have dogs; (the kiddo was more problematic than the dog). A few days later a family arrived with three little children. The noises were unbearable; yelling and running etc. I expressed my concerns to Jennifers husband who was outside assisting with luggage. ******** contacted me later about my concerns. She offered to move me to the other bldg, but I did not like that bldg, and opted to remain and hope for peace. Then on Friday, August 6th, around noon, without any notice whatsoever, as I was leaving the Inn for an appointment in Scarborough ( 45 minutes away), ******** abs husband asked to speak with me. They told me to pack your bags and leave. I was in shock. It was noon, very, very hot out, a Friday afternoon in high tourist season, and they were kicking out a 69 year old woman. I was numb with shock. I asked: what!? Are you kicking me out? They both replied: Yes, this isnt a good fit. I have no idea what their bizarre comment meant, but suddenly, the husband became outraged towards me. He started yelling at me about me acting out of line with my comments about the noise from tenants above mewhich, by the way, I tape recorded The husband was unhinged calling me names and yelling. His wife signaled to him to calm down, to no avail. When he left the area, I said to ********: his perception about reality is way off ******** agreed : Yes, he often has an exaggerated reality .. ******** gave me both of my original checks back - my checks, which had not been cashed very odd. My guess is that based on several earlier comments they had both made about being able to get $300 - $400 per night for my room, was probably the motivating factor. Highly unethical, unprofessional, unkind behavior - particularly towards a fully paid up, clean, quiet, tenant - a senior citizen no less! With nowhere to go on a Friday last minute!! Horrifying I want people to know, so this never happens to anyone else.
