On the date 04/22/2022 we had a house fire. Not knowing any contractors, I called *********************** @ Residential Roofers. He told me that he would handle the whole job. The fire was contained to second floor structure and metal roof.While looking the job over we noticed the paint was peeling off the metal roof panels that weren't affected by the fire, the roof was 4 years old. He told me that the company that makes the roof panels warranties them, so he sent someone from the lumber yard where they were purchased to investigate.Now there's two separate jobs.On 05/18/2022 I gave him a check for $10,000 down for the fire damage.His started work on Monday August 29th. On Thursday September 1st, he gave me bill for $14,000 minus the $10,000, so I paid him the remaining $4,000.Then he told the lumber yard was Giving him the metal to replace the panels with peeling paint.He gave me a bill for $23,000 and said they would get started as so as the lumber yard got the metal cut to length. So, I gave him $23,000 out of my pocket not the insurance claim.Still working on the fire rebuild on 09/09/2022, he billed me $15,000. I paid him.On 09/14/2022, he billed me the final bill for the fire rebuild $13,000. I paid him $4,000.I told him I needed to save some of the money from the insurance check for the insulation contractor.Not wanting to short him, I told him to take remaining $9,000 out of the $23,000 for the other job. I asked to give me a bill with description on it so I could submit it to insurance company to get reimbursed. I went on the roof to inspect what his crew had done, I had trouble believing what I saw.Almost every metal panel was wrinkled or damaged in some way. Some of the fasteners totally missed the strapping, the ridge cap was not installed properly, and the valleys were not sealed properly.On 11/21/2022 he sent a crew to fix the metal. They did a poor job the edges are all staggered, I cannot accept this. He still has $23,000 for the other job.
