This is a funeral home that we used after my father passed away on May 7, 2024. He had a mortuary trust with them. Our first meeting with the Funeral Director, ***, he told us verbally that Dad had a mortuary trust and we were "all set" and it was "all taken care of". We still asked for minimal services (small service at home, cremated, bought our own cremation container). On June 5th, we finally received an itemized invoice from them after several requests. The total came to $6,934. Dad's trust covered $2,998 of it. I have reached out multiple times for further clarification, asking for a copy of his mortuary trust to see if his policy was garunteed or not, asked to talk with the Director, ***, to understand why he told us we were all set when we are in fact NOT all set. He has yet to call us and they have stopped responding to my emails. The invoice itself has very general charges (such as a charge for ****** Services of Funeral Director and Staff" for $2,295), as well as specific charges for the ceremony and commital. I feel incredibly taken advantage of and my Mom, a grieving widow who's income has been cut in half, is quite distraught. No one is answering us and we'd like some help. My Dad passed away of natural causes and was in hospice. I will attach the invoice that my Mom, ***************************, received. Please let me know if you'd like additional info. I heard back from *** Finley, who essentially said the invoice is what it is and we are responsible for it. Never once did he explain how much money was in my Father's mortuary trust. When we asked at the beginning they said they'd have to check and get back to us. They never did. They never gave us a price list for their services when we first started planning things. I 100% feel taken advantage of during one of the most difficult times in my life. I've had my Mom's mortuary trust transferred to a different funeral home (which *** Finley told me I could not do) and will never deal with them again.
