On 9-7-21 I purchased a 2003 VW Jetta from Ricks Auto Repair. It had an "as is" price of $1,800 due to the car needing repairs. I paid an additional $700, for a total price of $2500 for the car with the understanding that the car would leave the lot with a valid inspection sticker. I paid in full to expedite the process. I was told the repairs needed were to remove the studded snow tires as they are not allowed on the roads before October, fix the exhaust, and repair a small amount of body rust. It should be ready on the following Wednesday. I called on 9-15-21 to check the status and Rick stated he had said it wouldn't be ready until the following Friday, this is NOT what we had discussed. I called on 9-24-2021 and was told that he had been unexpectedly busy and he would have it ready the next Friday. Because it would be October by then, he was no longer needing to remove the snow tires. He would only need to fix the exhaust and the rust. On October 1, Rick said that he had discovered a power steering leak that he would need to fix. He would order a part that day and should have it fixed by Wednesday. I called on Wednesday and got no answer, I called every day leaving messages and got no response until Friday October 15th when I was told he was leaving for a vacation, he did not know if the part was ordered or not, would not be able to fix the car until November 2nd at the earliest, and that he had fixed the exhaust and rust. He advised us to bring the car elsewhere to fix the power steering leak. Rick insisted that everything else was fine, the leak needed fixing and the car would pass inspection. I brought the car to Doug's Garage to get inspected, they discovered the brakes also would not pass. I paid an additional $2,165 to get the car to pass inspection. The exhaust is currently falling off and the rust was never fixed. I spoke with Rick asking for my $700 back as he did not do what was expected. He refused. I do not feel that he did what he agreed to do.
