We were installing a new tile shower in our downstairs bath. Since this business had done that same job for us a couple of years ago upstairs, I called them directly and they agreed to do the job, setting up a schedule to start Nov. 10, 2023 and finishing by Thanksgiving. I asked for the same man we had before, but was told he had left and they were sending a young woman who does all our tiling. In spite of asking to have someone come look at the job, I was repeatedly put off and told to send photos, which I did. It was clear at once that they hadnt scheduled enough time, but after a couple of days she was able to start the walls on Nov. 15th. I expressed concern at her slow pace, but the owner said shed finish in a couple of days. In fact, she wasnt done by Thanksgiving and they had to add 4 more days in mid-December, but she never finished. She left it unfinished on Dec. 13th. And a mess. My complaint, besides failing to finish on time, is that the tiling was so poorly done (crooked tiles, protruding tiles, misaligned grout lines, chipped tiles, grout lines filled with thinset), that we hired someone else to finish the job. He had to remove over 50 tiles that were badly installed, sand down inches of thinset and reapply waterproofing, recut and reset those tiles and finish parts she hadnt done and then spend hours clearing the grout lines before grouting. That alone cost $2100. Even now, after the repair work, we are left with some misaligned and protruding tiles which would have been impracticable to fix. We feel we are entitled some compensation for all the extra hours she put in, as well as the cost of the repairs. What promised to be a 5 day job ended up being twice as long, was never finished and then had to be redone in part. I have tried to reason with the owners in an email exchange, which I can share, but to no avail. Attached are just some of many photos of problem tiles and the extent of the repairs. Please feel free to ask for more.
