I hired JC Auto Body to repair both rocker panels on my 2012 Chevrolet Cruze in fall 2019. I chose JC Auto Body because the company offered a lifetime warranty on repairs. The repair cost $1,500. A year after the repairs, the paint showed signs of wearing off. In February 2022, I was shocked to find a hole in the left rocker panel near the driver's door. I reached out to the company on its website but did not receive a response. I wrote a certified letter to the company this month. *********** responded with its own certified letter. It claims that the work did not come with a warranty and that it was a "cosmetic clean up." *********** says the rocker panels needed to be replaced in 2019. ***********'s website clearly states that it warrants its work. It does not mention any exceptions to the warranty. At no time did JC Auto Body tell me when it gave me an estimate for the work that the rocker panels needed to be replaced. In fact, the estimate states "Occasionally, after the work has been started any worn, damaged or broken parts which are not visible at the initial inspection will be additional and subject to invoice. In which case you will be notified. All paint work warrantied for as long as you own the car." JC Auto Body now claims the work was supposed to be "temporary." I never asked for a "temporary" repair. I don't know of anybody who would pay $1,500 for cosmetic work knowing that more work would be needed in the near future, work that would include paying a second time for paint. I trusted JC Auto Body to tell me what needed to be done. It was not honest with me. I hired the company to do a specific job, which it failed to do according to the terms of our agreement and for the agreed upon price.
