Mr ******************** charged us nearly $800 to hang a ceiling fan then damaged the ceiling beam and refused to take responsibility. They did admit that they didnt put the stabilizers on the fan and offered to come out and put them on & give a $50 discount + gave the name of someone that could fix the ceiling for an additional cost

We removed a light fixture and installed a ceiling fan for the customer on May 30. At the conclusion of our visit the customer signed for the acceptance of work performed. There were no issues brought up at that time. The customer sent an email 8 days later on June 8 to say that the beam the ceiling fan was hung from was cracking and there was a small patch of paint/drywall missing. To me, this indicated that the ceiling fan was significantly heavier than the light fixture and the additional weight was weighing on the ceiling. The customer was also concerned because the fan was "swaying" when it was on high. In my experience, all ceiling fans have some sort of sway when on high. The technicians tested the fan before their departure and the fan was operating as expected which is why they did not apply the fan balancing stabilizers. I've been in constant communication with the homeowner that ordered the work, *******************, since he sent his first correspondence to **. Currently, we are scheduled to return the week of June 19, at no charge, where we will attempt to install a fan balancing stabilizer in hopes that it will help with the swaying. The initial installation charge of $778 was due to the ceiling height (21') and that it required scaffolding and 2 people to complete. I do sympathize with the customer that the results were less than ideal however, I don't feel that the issues are a result of negligence on our part.
