I rented a home with st clair estates/ Windsor farm. I had to leave the home in June of 20 due to domestic violence and a no contact order. When we moved in we were told the only way the lease can be broken is if there were domestic violence issues in the home. I submitted in writing that I moved and asked for my name to be removed from the lease and explained to office staff why. I was told my ex husband would have to sign another lease. Windsor farm never had him sign the lease. He was evicted in Sept 21. 15 months after my children and I moved out. They never had him renew a lease even upon eviction they went by the lease we originally signed when we moved there in 2019. So that eviction is now on my credit. I have disputed the matter several times. I have seek advice from legal aide regarding this matter. I was never served eviction papers or garnishment notice. In Feb 22 I reached out to the creditor and explained the situation. They considered removing me from the debt if I submitted proof. (Notification by letter of me moving Lease for new apartment and utility set up dates I also had to submitted all domestic violence police reports.) I submitted all items asked and was told they wouldn't remove my name from the debt because I was the aggressor in the last incident. Any incidents before that last incident resulted in my husband being arrested. Me being the aggressor should not be their concern. I felt they victim shamed me for leaving. They are now garnishing my check for the debt although I'm currently in a bankruptcy. Which I was told they couldn't do. I would like this matter resolved this removed from my credit and for the person who is responsible for the debt to pay
