*** Brill came to my rental home to tend to a plumbing issue, the landlord hired him. My 4 year old and I watch when service men come to work, as it is interesting to a little boy. My little boy and I agreed the glue *** was using was a bit strong, and my 4 year old opened the door. *** got up and closed it, after not even a minute passed, saying the pipes would freeze, and we'd have to leave the room. We left the room and placed a fan in it while *** worked. Before *** left, he told my family that he was leaving the sink full of water and a chemical, since the pipe was still blocked. The chemical had a very strong smell, but he assured us that it would drain by morning and that he stood by his product. Thankfully, we had placed a moving blanket over the doorway to keep some fumes out of most of the rest of the house. Unfortunately nothing drained. Instead we were gassed out of the house at 2am inhaling toxic fumes from the chemical (a sulfuric acid in a product called "roto-professional"?) that was eating away at the enamel of the old farm house kitchen sink, as well as burning a hole in the aluminum food catcher, among other damage. My family all woke in shock at 2am, my 4 year old crying, and my husband having to scramble while not being able to breath, to manually remove the chemical out of the sink and out of the house with a bucket. All we could do was open the windows in sub degree temperatures in January, in ******** winter. We contacted *** but he didn't arrive until later the following day. We couldn't use our kitchen for a week, we had to throw out food due to the fumes, we had to spend money to eat out. My husband had to not only miss work to help me clean the kitchen ceiling to floor, but also due to him developing a respiratory issue for several days after.The landlord was not happy with the cost since all it needed was a snake, like before. The one positive, is he did replace the pipes correctly, which will prevent clog in the future.
