The University of Michigan-Dearborn has "unethically" held my college transcript ******, claiming that I owe them $2,075.00., when I do not! I went the entire 2013-2014 school year without receiving any notification from the university saying that I owe them anything. It wasn't until I was getting ready for the next [school] year; this is when [they] began to say that I had owed a balance. I have asked them (a couple of times) to provide me with a complete itemized list of all financial aid that I was awarded during the 2013-14 school year but have yet to receive such information. The financial aid office was supposed to address me in my latest attempt to resolve the issue, but instead, they sent the message over to the school's ******* who then informed me of what the ****** of ********* Aid's latest results were. Again, ******-Dearborn alleges that I owe a balance, but they refuse to provide me such proof!!!

UM-Dearborn has communicated all appropriate amounts owed by this student and we have records as such.

It is UM-Dearborn policy to not release official transcripts until all tuition/fee amounts owing have been paid in full

My husband is an undergraduate student in the ******* of ******** at the University of Michigan Dearborn, and in Fall 2021 we took out a private loan from MEFA (Massachusetts ******************************** to help pay for his living expenses. On December 15, 2021, MEFA informed us that the second and final disbursement of our loan was distributed to the university in the amount of $2,000, but as of February 21, 2022, the university still has not delivered those funds to us as a refund as expected. We have repeatedly attempted contacts to ask when the refund will come, but they have offered no valid explanation why the refund has not been issued and refuse to indicate when we will receive it. We trusted that this loan would be available to us, and we are now suffering the financial consequences of them utterly failing to hold up their responsibilities.

The University of Michigan-Dearborn ensures all refunds are posted to the student account for issuance within or before the 14-day federal financial aid requirements. The 14-day refunding period begins on the date a student account payment is posted, where the sum of all payments in the term is greater than the sum of tuition and fees charges. The **** Private Loan mentioned was paid to the student account on January 6, 2022, the day courses began for the term that the funding was applicable to.  The funding did not exceed the total cost of tuition and fees in the term, thus, no refund was eligible at that time.  Other Federal aid was processed on February 1, 2022 that, in total with the loan, was more than tuition and fees.  This funding did create a refund on February 14, 2022.  There was a short transmission delay of the funds, but it was issued by February 18th where it would have been reflected on the student's bank account within 3-5 days.  Since this report was made to the BBB on 2/21/22, the student received the funds and an explanation was given in regards to the deposit and the delay.
