I've been with them for 30 years +/-. I started back when they were Quicken and it was an awesome company to work with. I've had probably 6-8 mortgages with them over the years. I currently have two loans with them. One is for my son's home. I'm on the note and back him up if needed. I was notified this week by a monitoring company that my credit score dropped 30 points because Rocket retroactively changed the status of the Dec 2023 payment on my son's home from on time to 30 days late. At first Rocket denied making the change and the subsequent reporting to credit agencies. But after sending in documentation, they admitted it. I received confusing emails saying it was actually the Nov 2023 payment that was late, but it's showing on my credit report as December. Here's what ticks me off. My son made his November payment electronically on Nov 20th. Rocket's online payment history shows they reversed the payment on December 5th. My son made a subsequent payment immediately on Dec 5th. Why did it take 2 weeks for Rocket to reverse an electronic payment? Had they reversed it before the end of November I could have stepped in, as I do occasionally, and made the payment to avoid this situation. And why after 6 months did they decide to retroactively change the payment status? Email responses from Rocket don't provide an adequate explanation and come across as basically saying "too bad. it is what it is". So, my son and I went from 100% on time for the entire loan history to showing a late payment and I got the credit report hit. Again, this could have been avoided had they notified me in November that the payment was about to be classified as 30 days late. I've recommended Quicken/Rocket for years to many people. Never again. It's not the same customer focused company it once was.
