I have my auto loan through this credit union for a few years. Last year they tried to randomly change my interest rate to 18% because after 2 years of everyone being fine they dont want me having someone secondary on my title of the car (husband) Seems like my business as long as Im making their payments (which I am). This year they are charging me late fees on every monthly payment although it shows the money is taken out in full days before it is due. Both times they basically told me thats how it is and I better like it! No compensation for the stealing of my money monthly!!!Review from Yadi M

****** does not care about their loyal long time members! Had multiple accoutns with them in 10 years never missed a single payment! I paid of the credit card with them or i assumed paid off! Apparently I owed 10 lousy cents that i was not aware of. They attempted once to call me by phone and I didnt realize it was them until it was way too late! They reported the 10 cents to the credit bureau and cost me 80 points on my credit score. I paid it once i realized it but it was apparently too late and they say they cant do anything! Do not trust this institution they dont care how loyal you are they will not take care of you in a matter of small miscommunication!Review from Penny S

MSUFCU is the bank I use for "home" banking as I have not lived in Michigan for seven years. The account was really only set up to be able to send money to and from family members, but I recently needed to make a large purchase and was approved for a credit card upon application. They sent it through the mail, it was "sent back," and they overnighted it back. The entire time they took way too long to communicate/get back to me and kept asking me to confirm my address after I had already stated it had been "sent" to the correct address the "first" time. I received the notice of approval message for the credit card on March 16th. I was supposed to receive a form via email, I reached out about not receiving it on March 19th, and on March 21st they messaged back letting me know they had had the wrong email on file. On April 19th I sent a message asking where the credit card was - a month later - and on April 20th they messaged back stating the card had been sent out on the 23rd of March and was "just" returned to them due to an "incorrect address." They offered to overnight it if I would just confirm my mailing address, but after seeing that my mailing address was correct on my account it AND they stated they had JUST received the card back after my inquiry on it is more than suspicious to me. I confirmed as they asked anyways and they still wasted more of my time asking me to confirm it again. They also charged $5 to my account for "paper work fees" even though I never told them I no longer wanted email notifications for things. Emails I never got in the first place because they had the wrong email down in the first place. This was supposed to be the bank I trusted when I moved back to Michigan, I will find someone else who doesn't f*** around with my time and money.Review from Kristin S

We were placed with this institution for our car lease, so we did not voluntary choose to have our loan here. My husband had heart surgery around the time our first payment was due. Not only was he having to deal with the pain and recovery of his heart surgery, but he was also struggling to get our account set-up. We had to make 4 separate calls to get our account set-up properly. On top of it, we made the payments the first time via ACH to avoid late fees and my husband asked for us to be put on auto pay. They never fully set-up the auto pay saying that they told us about a form that needed to be signed, but my husband was on about 10 different medications at the time and literally does not remember this. When the payment was missed, there was no attempt at a payment even though they had the account information, and even though they knew of.our intent to enroll in auto pay, which cannot be done on their website, and then they reported us to credit bureaus and are refusing to acknowledge their error. You go with a regional and small state bank for better service, and that is not what you'll get here. Do yourself a favor and stay far from this institution. They'll do anything they can to charge late fees and or report you to ruin your credit, even if they have recorded phone calls of your intent to enroll in auto pay to prevent this exact situation. They purposely have an old and limited website, so that they can force you to call to do things, which is not only a waste of time, it allows them to force their protocols on you, like forcing you to sign a document for auto pay which no other vendor or bank has as a standard policy. Literally anything they can do to make your life difficult, they do.Review from shijing h

loan department is less than moral and professional. I closed a refinance loan on Monday, the next day, things happened and I want to cancel the loan, recession. first everyone i talked to said yes. then, said no because it was none owner occupied. No loan officer of MSUFCU, nor title company, during the closing, have ever told me there is no recession period. no document i signed ever mentioned this loan does not have recession period. i didn't sign anything said there is no recession.however, the common knowledge is that refinance does have 3 days of recession period. talked to the head of loan department, she finally agreed to allow the recession, yet, the next day she called said MSUFCU cannot do the recession. even after they learned that their policy was hidden from the customer from the loan officer to title company.Review from VALENCIA C

Trash!!! I go to msufcu after a bankruptcy to get a vehicle and they accepted and allowed me to do so. flash forward to a couple weeks ago, said vehicle was in car accident and my insurance company paid my loan off. after speaking with several loan officers i was reassured that i was able to get another loan due to membership, direct deposit being sent there, etc. Come to find out they denied me and came up with every excuse as to why i was denied. it got to the point where i was sent to their ******************* where a Lady told me " we weren't supposed to give you a loan nor an account because of your bankruptcy and we need you to shut your account down by the end of the year." all because of the mistake they made last year. now my family is without a car, my credit union booted me because of their incompetence, and they just caused my credit score to drop because they reported a payment late AFTER they got their pay off.
