On January 19th 2022, ********************* from Pleasant Holdings, LLC reached out to advise if I would be renewing my lease for the next year by January 31st. My previous landlord, *******************, of the Health Profession Apartments, had yet to tell me or any of the other tenants that he had sold the property and it would be managed by a different corporation.I responded to the email, stating that I was interested in renting the next year and would arrange a time to discuss. I also asked if we could discuss on Wednesday Feb 2nd at 1:30PM because there was such a short turn around time and per the originals lease, we were not required to tell the landlord if we had any intention of staying until 2 months prior to our lease end date. I did not hear back from the company and sent another email asking them to "kindly respond" to my previous email. Eventually, I called the number, still prior to January 31st as they were not responding and I needed to understand the implications of "renewing my lease", especially given that the lease I had with the previous landlord promised a *** $50 increase in rent and that we could rent month to month for the next year. After speaking to **************, it became apparent that he was unaware of the components of the lease I previously signed and the fact that I already agreed to pay month-to-month after 1 year. When speaking to ************** he said that I needed to sign the lease that day to be able to remain in my apartment past the July 15th date. He also stated that if I did not, he could not honor the *** $50.00 increase and needed me to sign a 1 year extension of my lease but would get back to me regarding the month to month. Feeling pressured, as a student and someone who has no family in the country, I signed, clarifying the need to confirm the true end date of the lease and when the amendment could be made. After signing, I would not hear back from ************** or the maintenance staff when reaching out via text, phone call or email, respectively for clarifications regarding the lease. I received verbal confirmation that I could move out first on June 15th then July 1st without any issues in late May and again in mid-June due to ****************** delay in providing me with a rent ledger, regardless of numerous phone calls from me and **************** to attain the document I needed for my rental applications approval. Additionally, ************** was at the property site and observed me moving out on July 1st as witnessed by my family and those helping me move out. To date I still have not received confirmation from ************** of my move out inspection and that he received the keys I left--even after asking him for said confirmation. At this time, I am disputing the month and a half plus late fee rent ************** of Pleasent Holdings, LLC is seeking of June rent ($1140) + July rent ($570) + late fees of $150 (****% of balance owing) minus my security deposit of $250 for a total of $1610. I have arranged to pay ************** next week, however I am disputing him charging me for July and late fees as we agreed multiple times that I could move out by June 15th, thus I would owe him $570 plus the late fee of $64.98 minus my security deposit of $250 for a total of $352.98.
