On Monday, April 25, 2022 I dropped off my car (**** ******* Accent) at Kaz Transmissions for a transmission rebuild that they told me would take a week and cost around $2600. They declined to provide me with a written estimate at the time, and it took me asking them twice on the phone for them to actually email me an "estimate" a couple days later. What started out as a 1 week job quickly turned into 2. And then 2 weeks turned into 3. And then the 3 week **** came and went with yet another excuse on why the job was not complete. First it was an oil pump. Then an engine sensor. Then it was a cyllanoid. Finally after more than 3 weeks had gone by, and a dozen phone calls & emails, I left a very professional calm negative review on ****** and ********* I received a phone call a couple hours later from ***** at Kaz Transmissions who was upset I had chosen to publicly criticize them. He gave me an ultimatum that I could either pay $2200 to get my car back as-is (job not finished), or I could pay $400 to walk away from the situation but have them remove my partially-rebuilt transmission, so the car would not be drivable. Either way he insisted I come into the shop in person (1/2 hour trip for me). Or if I wanted them to continue attempting to repair the transmission like I hired them to do, I would still need to pay up front and sign a document, and then they would try to finish it whenever they could (no time-frame was given). When I asked about the $400 option, he couldnt even give me a time-frame for that, like how long it would take to prepare my vehicle to be released back to me it would be days or even weeks! I looked up the MI Dept of State booklet called Consumers ********************************** Kit on their website, and it says clearly If the repair shop will not return your vehicle immediately when you refuse its recommended service, telephone the toll-free complaint line at 888-SOS-MICH or ************ so that is what I plan to do.Business response

Then come get your car. Your reviews and this complaint are full of fabrications and we aren't willing to drop to your level to deal with all of them. Have the car back and go away.Customer response
