We had our baby 6 months ago and we got a bill from Pediatrix for $1700. This bill has no explanation of the charges and once asked, we were rudely talked to with no explanation. On the call, we mentioned that this bill was impossible for us to pay considering that only one person is working in our household. Instead of offering a better solution, we were threatened that this bill would be sent to collection if we didn't pay it.If I remember correctly, this doctor is charging us for simply laying eyes on our child while being in the hospital. He spent less than five minutes with us each day, and is charging an outrageous bill. The doctor who I saw all 9 months and delivered my baby only charged us $600. This simply shows that Pediatrix is out there to make a profit off of whoever they can get, and bill them outrageous and unjust amounts of money. Pediatrix is a predatory company that has no ethics at all. They were called mednax earlier but changed their name to pediatrix which is very similar to pediatrics, possibly to confuse mothers who are about to give birth. They also don't work with any insurance and is always out of network. Such scammers should not be allowed to touch babies, as they only care about money. They even have influenced corrupt politicians to make expensive hearing test mandatory which is predatory. A test that should cost 50$ is now charged 1000s.This is the last thing anyone who is about to have a baby should be worrying about. Parents should be burdened with outrageous bills while caring for their newborn. Beware of this company and stay far away from it!!!!!!Review from Stacy R

As a medical claims auditor in previous role, this is the absolute worst coordination of benefits billing experience I have ever encountered. I had 2 children back to back. Father is primary policy and mine secondary and I had already established the coordination correctly with both policies, however this medical billing group never got the claims right...ever. I had to call the insurance companies separately to remind them to pay as primary or as secondary and for the secondary to deny claims when there isn't a primary payer amount. I should NOT have to do their job for them and of all the companies that deal with coordination of benefits, pediatric medical billing does this all day every day, yet this group still doesn't get it right. Even after I called my secondary and provided them the primary EOB and they processed the claim AND I paid it, they still sent a final notice AND reprocessed the claim to the secondary insurance AGAIN. I had to do this process 2 years in a row with both children. Coordination of billing is not this difficult.Review from Melissa S.

Worst most criminal company ever. Billing has no idea what they are doing and commit fraud. This company needs to be under investigation and shut down. I have been in constant communication for over a year as they double bill dates of service and send to collections even when accounts should be on hold due to their discrepancy. I am taking legal action.Review from Savanna C

This is the first billing service I've encountered that does not offer financial assistance. My son has extensive heart problems that will require open heart sometime this year. We are already drowning in medical debt from multiple hospital stays in his short 5 month life. I called to set up a payment plan and told the representative we can only afford $50 a month due to being limited to one income now. We were told we can either pay $124 a month for 24 months or our credit will be impacted. It's so frustrating when my family can hardly afford his cardiologist appointments, much less try to pay $2900 to this company with no financial assistance or better flexible payment options.Review from Ni D

After reading reviews here - it appears this is a common occurrence with Pediatrix Medical Group. My wife and I just had a baby in October. We had gone to the office in Louisville (Avista OBGYN) for a heart check up due to concern for a heart defect. After leaving the office, I am a bit anal retentive and keep all bills associated to the pregnancy so I can match them with insurance. My Heath insurance showed a claim paid to the office yet I did not have a bill. After waiting and attempting follow up leaving a message - there was never a call back and no bill sent. On 11/26/23 Pediatrix Medical Group Corporate office sent me and my wife to a debt collector agency for no payment of the bill totaling over 5,000$. When we called Pediatrix, they pretended to not know any of our information and related there was no record of our bill. After contacting the debt collector they provided us with the account information as well as the date the process took place with their proof of no payment. When inquiring about this - they had an address that was not our address despite us never moving and having all the information entered correctly on our portal for the OBGYN. This company is a sham and needs to be shut down. Use caution if interacting with them.Review from Katy R

I’ve just had a baby, so I’ve been billed many times by different providers. This group and their affiliate, Obstetrix Medical group seem unable to handle simple billing and co-pay collection. I’m a BCBS PPO plan. If they can’t handle billing for such a large insurer, then they are not fit for purpose.Review from Rachel A

I was honest, proactive, and patient. I work FT, I'm a mother of two, and had to put in countless hours over MONTHS to avoid this company from unjustifiably harming our credit.January 2023 - Baby born. Address was incorrect on discharge papers and unaware that Pediatrix Medical Group was a third party ****** at the time, and did not know we had to contact third party billers to correct someone's clerical error at the hospital.February 2023 - I knew I had bills due to Pediatrix b/c claims were processed in my insurance portal. I had EOBs and knew our patient responsibility, but still had NO BILL from Pediatrix. Called Pediatrix; they had no record of me or this baby, no bills on file to pay. Told me to "wait."May 2023 - still NO one from Pediatrix called us. Knew collections would be inevitable and still had no bill. So I called Pediatrix again. Someone competent found bill via other contact info. She was kind enough to give me heads up insurance may have underpaid one of the bills. Advised me to contact them to get it corrected. In the meantime, enrolled me in a payment plan to buy time because my bill WAS ABOUT TO BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS as I suspected. Made 1st payment.**** 2023 - Insurance agreed to correct the bill. I arranged a 3-way conference call to inform Pediatrix that insurance payment was in process and to request account to be kept on hold **** 2023 - Made MY 2nd auto-payment in the payment plan **** or July (unsure) 2023 - Insurance paid Pediatrix and combined with my 2nd auto-pay, Pediatrix portal showed me due a CREDIT of $20.40. Didn't hear from Pediatrix about this. Hold must have lifted in August 2023 b/c Pediatrix started phone threats to send my "overdue bill" to collections. Tried explaining for DAYS, provided documentation showing corrected EOBs, insurance payments, my receipts from auto-pay, and it still took another week for a supervisor to finally confirm what I knew all along: I overpaid and I was owed a refund.Review from Jodi W

Received a bill 3-4 months after my childs birth. Never saw that doctor or even heard of the office, but okay whatever, maybe they did some paperwork filing or something. Called the office to give them my insurance info, nobody answered. Left a voicemail that was never returned. Created a portal and added the insurance information for her online. The bill is in the wrong name, they have her last name wrong and I cant call to have anyone fix it, they never answer the phone. Ive left several messages online to no response. I called my insurance company and they say that they processed the claim and paid them but the bills still keep rolling in. Just received my last notice that theyre going to send my account to collections. Posting this review here so maybe someone will actually respond and fix the issue. Im not giving them money out of pocket for a scam.Review from Christina H

I had my son in July of 2021 - almost 2 years ago. I received a bill for $1,627 for service that was unexplained on the bill - it just says things like "Hospital" and "discharge day" and "birth" and it references names of doctors I've never heard of. We have already paid the hospital bills, nursery bills, pediatric bills, circumcision surgery bills, anesthesiologist bills, etc. Our hospital is in-network and we reached our out-of-pocket maximum in 2021. Surprise billing at its finest! They said my insurance company denied the claims (claims were never filed) - which we had great insurance and they would have never denied a legitimate pediatric ****. My name is spelled wrong on the bill, they didn't have a phone number on file for me, and this bill seems like a scam. The agent said they filed with insurance, but this bill says "no insurance on file". As I type this, I am still on hold (so far, been a half an hour) with an associate at Pediatrix who didn't know what to say when I asked for detail of these services. I was abruptly placed on hold.Review from Bryce J

I have experienced predatory practices from Pediatrix Medical Group for the medical billing associated with two of my three children. Their bills have no descriptions of services rendered, no descriptions of the provider associated with the services rendered, and only an ID number and amount due. In their bill, they are very encouraging of "easy-to-use" online pay; however, their payment URLs have changed several times across subsequent bills over the course of months. Further, their return address PO boxes have changed several times over the course of months across subsequent bills from ****** to ************ to ******* PO boxes.I have excellent insurance, and they have helped me resolve the onslaught of bills I receive from Pediatrix. If you also receive bill after bill from Pediatrix, don't pay a dime until your insurance outlines your explanation of benefits (EOB). Pediatrix ought to be shut down for their predatory, shady, and outright unethical billing practices.
